Order for Evening Worship. The Minister shall begin the Evening Worship by reading one or more of the following, or other, Sentences from Scripture. G i. 2. RACE be unto you, and peace, from God our Let my prayer be set forth as incense before thee; The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Psalm cxli. 2. For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name is great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense is offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name is great among the Gentiles, saith the Lord of hosts. Mal. i. 11. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. St. John iv. 23, 24. O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Psalm xcvi. 9. (1) Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Psalm xix. 14. O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt his name together. Psalm xxxiv. 3. The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him; He also will hear their cry, and will save them. Psalm cxlv. 18, 19. Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm cxxiv. 8. Many there be that say, Who will show us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. Psalm iv. 6. Give ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: For unto thee do I pray. Psalm v. 1, 2. Come ye, and let us walk in the light of the Lord. And he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths. Isaiah ii. 5, 3. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psalm li. 17. Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. St. Matt. v. 6. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 St. John i. 8, 9. Him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; that we might become the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor. v. 21. In whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. Eph. i. 7. Having then a great high priest, who hath passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help us in time of need. Heb. iv. 14-16. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him. St. Luke xi. 13. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. St. Luke xi. 9. |
