Monday, January 4, 1847.

This being the day, designated by the constitution of the State of Michigan, for the assembling of the Legislature, the Senate met in their chamber, at the Capitol, in the city of Detroit.

Hon. William L. Greenly, Lieutenant Governor, and President of the Senate, called the Senate to order.

Upon the roll being called, the following Senators answered to their names:

Senators Bush, Fenton, Green, Kibbee, Maynard, Robinson, Rix, and Thurber.

The names of the Senators elect were then called, and the following members, their credentials having been presented and approved, severally answered and subscribed the constitutional oath of office, administered by Hon. George Miles, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, and took their seats as Senators, to wit:

First District.-Robert P. Eldridge, Andrew T. McReynolds, John E. Schwarz.

Second District.-John Allen, Samuel Denton, Henry B. Lathrop Third District.-John P. Cook.

Fourth District.-Jerome B. Fitzgerald, Isaac D. Toll.

Fifth District.-Nathaniel A. Balch.

Sixth District.-Andrew Parsons, Elijah B. Witherbee.
Seventh District.-Ephraim B. Danforth.
