On motion of Mr. M'Douell, was concurred in.

The resolution to inquire into the expediency of limiting the sessions of the Courts of Record of this Territory, wis again read and concurred in.

Mr. Schoolcraft moved to suspend the 19th standin: Ruie of the Council; and that the resolution adjoer sing the Council until the 1st day of July nexi, be read a second time.

The motion prevailed-Ayes, 9; Nays, 1.
M. Drake requiring the ayes and nays:

Me Kingsley submitted the following resolution :

Resolved, That the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of legalising the acts of corinthcors in the newly organised counties, who have been commiss.med or elected, and who have voted by virtue of their commissious or elecuns, though such officers have not in every particular («Mpled with the requisitions of the law, or have been elected to onces to which they were not eligible.

Ordered, That the resolution lie on the table.

M. Schoolcraft offered the following resolution:

Res deed, That a committee of three members be appointed to report, from the unfinished business of the last Legislative Council, The bill to provide for the incorporation of a Mining Company. A message being announced, from the Governor,

Mr Forsyth notified the Council that the Governor had this day a, pr ved and signed,

The resolution respecting the interchange of the Laws of the Termory with the States and Territories of the Union; and,

An act to amend an act, entitled an act to prevent gaming.

A recess of the Council was had, until 3 o'clock, P. M.

3 o'clock, P. M. Mr. M'Donell, from the committee on Terrorial Atla.rs, reported,

A bill to organise the county of Kalamazoo,
The bill was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
Mr. Irwin moved the final question upon the resolution fer ad-

journing the Council, read a third time this morning.

Mr. Fletcher, from the committee on Enrolment, reported as correctly enrolled,

Mr. Drake moved that the Council adjourn, when

Mr. Forsyth notified the Council that the Governor had approved and signed the resolution, respecting the adjournment of the Council.

The question on Mr. Drake's motion, being then taken, it was decided in the affirmative.

So the Council adjourned, to meet again on the first day of July

next.

THURSDAY, July 1, 1830.

The Council met this day, agreeably to a resolution passed June 7th ult. and approved that day, adjourning the Council to the first day of July, then ensuing.

The President directing a call of the Council, the following members appeared and answered to their names.

Messrs. Brown, Fletcher, Le Roy, M'Donell, Stockton, Edwards-6.

There not being a quorum present, the President declared the Council adjourned to to-morrow at the usual hour.

FRIDAY, July 2, 1830..

The following petitions were presented :

By the President: A petition from sundry inhabitants of Tecumseh, praying that certain School Commissioners be authorised to take their oath of office-the time limited by law for taking the same having expired.

Ordered, That it be referred to a special committee of three

members.

Messrs. Durocher, Irwin and Stockton, were appointed that

By Mr. Durocher: A petition from sundry inhabitants of the county of Monroe, praying the prohibition of nine-pia alleys, except under certain restrictions. Referied to the committee on the Judiciary.

By Mr. Bartow: An account of R. S. Rice, for services rendered at the close of the 2d session of the 3d Council. Referred to the committee on Expenditures.

By M. Fletcher: A petition of the Grand Jury of the county of Way ayne, June term, 1830, relative to nuisances created on the border of the River, by the Fisheries; and praying a summary process for abating them. Referred to the committee on the Ju iciary.

By Mr. Kingsley: A petition from sundry inhabitants of the county of Jackson, for the organisation of a township, to be called Jacksonburgh, &c. Referred to the committee on I erritorial Affairs.

Mr. Stockton, from the committee on Printing, to whom the subject had been referred by resolution, reported,

A bill to amend an act, entitled an act to provide for the publication of the Acts passed by the Legislative Council of the Territory of Michigan.

The bill was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table. On motion of Mr. M'Donell,

Ordered, That the bill in addition, and to amend an act, entitled an act amendatory to an act entitled an act to regulate the ar sessment and collection of Territorial taxes, with the amendments, be recommitted to the committee on Territorial Affairs.

Mr. Bartow offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the committee on Claims be instructed to inquire into the propriety of making a ful! investigation of the allowance of fees, to each county and town officer; and report by bill or otherwise. Ordered, That the resolution lie on the table.

The bill to divide the township of Bloomfield, in the county of Oakland ; and,

The bill to set off and organise the township of Saginaw,

were taken up; and,

On motion of Mr. Drake,

Ordered, That said bills be engrossed and read a third time es Thursday next.

On motion of Mr. M'Donell,

Ordered, That the "bill to amend an act, entitled an act to regulate taverns," be recommitted to the committee on Territorial Affairs.

The resolution heretofore submitted by Mr. Drake, relative to taking a census of the inhabitants living east of Lake Michigan, and relative to the erection of workshops adjoining the Jail, were taken up and again read; and,

On motion, were severally concurred in.

Mr. M'Donell moved that the Council adjourn to Monday next, at o'clock.

The question being taken, it was determined in the negative. Mr. Fletcher moved that the Council adjourn to Tuesday next, at the usual hour; when

A message from the Governor on Executive business, being announced, it was delivered by Mr. Forsyth.

The question on Mr. Fletcher's motion being then taken, it was deciced in the affirmative.

So the Council adjourned to Tuesday, at 11 o'clock, A. M.

TUESDAY, July 6, 1880.

The following petitions and papers were presented:

By Mr. Irwin: A petition from Lewis and Betsey Dewey, of Green Bay, for a divorce. Referred to the committee on the Ju

A petition from Wm. Dickinson for authority to establish a Ferry at Rapids des Peres, Green Bay. Referred to the committe on Territorial Affairs.

By Mr. Le Roy: A petition from sundry inhabitants of Farmington township, Oakland county, for the laying out of a certain road there in mentioned. Referred to the committee on Roads. And, A petition from the inhabitants of the same township, for an alte ration in the general incorporation act.

On motion of Mr. Le Roy,

The resolution heretofore submitted by Mr. Bartow, relative to the fees of county and town officers, was taken up, again read, and concurred in.

The resolution heretof re submitted by Mr. Drake, rela ive to inquiring into the contion of the Capitol, was taken up, again read, and concurred in.

The resolution heretofore submitted by Mr. Drake, relative to exempting stills from Territorial taxes, was taken up, again read, and concurred in

Mr. Drake gave notice that he should, at a future day, ask leave to bring in bills with the following titles:

A bill to amend an act, entitled an act to regulate blacks and mulattoes, and to punish the kidnapping of such persous; and,

A bill to abolish imprisonment for debt.

The resolution heretofore submited by Mr. Durocher, relative to amending the law on the subject of highway taxes, was taken up, again read, and concurred in.

On motion of Mr. Drake,

Resolved, That the Judiciary committee be instructed to inquire into the expediency of providing by law for the further security and preservation of the record and proceedings of the Probate Court for the county of Okland, previous to the first Saturday in Dec. 1827.

Resolved, That the committee on Territorial Affairs be instructed to inquire into the expediency of exonerating regularly licensed ministers and preachers of the gospel, from the assessment and payment of taxes upon ali personal property.

Ou motion of Mr. Schooler, the Council went into the consideration of Executive business; after which, The Council adjourned.
