As no new facts have been presented to the committee, there appears to be no reason for altering their views of the subject ; and they therefore recommend the adoption of the following resolution : Resolved, That the petitioner is not entitled to relief.

Mr. Stockton, from the committee on Printing, made the following report:

The committee on Printing, respectfully report

That the printing of the Laws passed at the present session of the Council, be given to Thomas Simpson, of Pontiac ; and that the printing of the Journal be given to Edward D. Ellis, of Monroe: And it is understood, that the compensation shall be the same, as that heretofore allowed for printing by the Legislative Council.

Ordered, That the report lie on the table.

Mr. Stockton, from the committee on the Militia, reported, ▲ bill to amend the several acts to organise the Militia.

The bill was read the first time; and,

On motion of Mr. Stockton, the 19th rule was suspended, and the bill passed to its second reading.

On motion of Mr. Stockton,

Ordered, That the bill be engrossed and read a third time to

morrow.

Mr. Fletcher, from the committee on Enrolment, reported as correctly enrolled, bills with the following titles:

An act to amend an act, entitled an act to amend an act entitled an act concerning judgments and executions, approved July 3, 1828. An act concerning the counties of Michillimackinac, Brown, Crawford, Chippewa and Iowa.

An act to amend an act, entitled an act to prevent forcible entries and detainers.

An act to authorise Sarah Ann Steers, to sell and convey certain lands therein mentioned.

An act to organise the township of Notawa.

The President signed said bills.

The bill to provide for laying out and establishing certain Territorial Roads, was read the third time.

On motion of Mr. Drake, the blank in the 2d section was filled with the names of" Arthur Powers, Amos Mead and Hiram Wil marth." And the blank in the 4th section, with the names of "Orange Risdon, Alfred Davis and B. Holmes." And the blank in the 6th section, with the names of "George Meachum, John Bogert and Squire Thompson."

On motion of Mr. Lawrence, the bill was amended, by inserting after the word "Roads" in the 7th section, these wers-“ and any damages, to individuals across whose land the same may be laid out."

Mr. Drake moved that the bill pass.

The question being taken, it was decided that the bill do now pass; and that the title thereof be,

"An act," &c.

The bill to amend aa act, entitled an act concerning Grand and Petit Jurors, was read the third time.

On motion of Mr. Fletcher, the bill was amended, by striking out the words, "one hundred," and inserting in lieu, the word "fifty."

Mr. Fletcher moved that the bill pass.

The question being taken, it was decided that the bill do now pass; and that the title thereof be,

"An act," &c.

The bill to set off and organise the township of Jacksonburgh, was read the third time.

On motion of Mr. Kingsley, the bill was amended, by striking out the word "Jacksonburgh," as often as it occurs in the bill, and substituting the word "Jacksonopolis."

Mr. Kingsley moved that the bill pass.

The question being taken, it was decided that the bill do now pass; and that the title thereof be,

"An act," &c.

The bill to incorporate the Pontiac and Detroit Rail Road Company, was read the third time.

Mr. Le Roy moved that the bill pass.

At the request of a member, Mr. Le Roy withdrew his motion; and,

Ordered, That the bill lie on the table.

The bill to provide for the inspection of Flour, Beef, Pork and Fish, was read the third time.

Mr. Lawrence moved to strike out, in the 7th line of the 1st section, the words, "Beef and Pork”—when,

A message was announced from the Governor, who notified the Council, by Mr. Trowbridge, that he yesterday approved and signed,

An act to legalise the proceedings of officers within the county of Iowa, and for other purposes.

An act amendatory to an act, relative to the office and duties of the Auditor of the Territory of Michigan.

And that he had this day approved and signed,

An act concerning the counties of Michillimackinac, Brown, Crawford and Iowa.

An act to legalise the proceedings of Justices of the Peace, in certain cases.

An act to authorise Sarah Ann Steers to sell and convey certain lands therein mentioned.

An act to amend an act, entitled an act to prevent forcible entries and detainers.

An act to organise the township of Notawa.

An act in addition, and to amend an act, entitled an act amendatory to an act, entitled an act to regulate the assessment and collection of Territorial taxes.

An act to amend an act, entitled an act to amend an act entitled an act concerning judgments and executions, approved July 3, 1828. A message on Executive business was also received at the same time, by the hands of Mr. Trowbridge.

The question, on the motion by Mr. Lawrence, being then taken.
The motion was lost.

On motion of Mr. Drake, the bill was amended, by striking out in the last line of the 4th section, the words, "marked as aforesaid," and substituting the word "made.”

On motion of Mr Fletcher, the bill was further amended, by striking out in the 2d section, the words, " County Treasurer of the"-and in the 4th and 5th sections, the word "Treasury,”

On motion of Mr Drake, the bill was further amended, by stiking out, in the 5th section, the word "year," and inserting in lien the words, "six months, or pay a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars."

On motion of Mr. Lawrence, the bill was further amended, by striking out in the 2d section, the words, “intended for exportation in such county and".

Mr. Kingsley moved that the bill pass.

The question being taken, it was decided that the bill do nov pass; and that the title thereof be,

"An act," &c.

Mr. Irwin moved that the Council take a recess until 3 o'clock. P. M.

The motion was lost.

The bill authorising the alteration of the Territorial Road leading from Poutine io Adrian, was read the third time.

Mr. Kingsley moved that the bill pass.

The question being taken, it was decided that the bill do noW pass; and that the title thereof be,

The bill to alter the name of the township of Ossewa, in the county of Oakland, was read the third time.

On motion of M.. Drake, the bill was amended, by striking out the word "Franklin.” and inserting in lieu, the word “ Southfield.” Mr. Drake moved that the bill pass.

The question being taken, it was decided that the bill do now pass; and that the title thereof be,

"An act," &c.

The bill authorising the administration of an oath in certain cases, was read the third time.

Mr. Fletcher moved that the bill pass.

The question being taken, it was decided that the bill do now pass; and that the title thereof be,

The bill to legalise the acts of certain Highway Commissioners in Washtenaw County, was read the third time.

Mr. Kingsley moved that the bill pass.

The bill to organise the townships of Arcadia and Brady, in the county of Kalamazoo, was read the third time.

Mr. Schoolcraft moved that the bill pass.

3 o'clock, P. M. The bill to regulate the fees of County Treasurers and township officers, was read the third time.

On motion of Mr. Lawrence, the bill was amended, by striking out the 2d section thereof.
