Ten assorters of money-orders for the Office of the Auditor of the Treasury for the Post-Office Department, at $1,000 each per annum.

One draughtsman for the Office of the Quartermaster-General of the United States Army, at $1,800 per annum, and two assistant messengers, at $720 each, for the same Office.

For the Office of the Surgeon-General of the United States Army: Two clerks of class four; two clerks of class three; one clerk of class two; and five clerks of class one. For General Land-Office: Three clerks of class four; two clerks of class three; four clerks of class two; and twenty-one clerks of class one.

For Indian Office: Two clerks of class one; and two copyists, at $900 each per

annum.

For Pension Office: Two clerks of class four; four clerks of class three; ten clerks of class two; and ten copyists, at $900 each per annum; also, twenty laborers at $720 each per annum.

For Post-Office Department: Three clerks of class four; five clerks of class three; three clerks of class two; and six clerks of class one; one assistant messenger, at $720 per annum; and two laborers, at $720 per annum each.

Appropriation is made for the following additional force for the Treasury Department, to be employed in connection with the new national loan, viz:

In the Office of the Secretary of the Treasury: Two principal clerks, at $2,800 each; two assistant clerks, at $2,400 each; fourteen clerks of class four; eight clerks of class three; six clerks of class two; four clerks of class one; forty copyists, at $900 each; eight messengers, at $840 each; twenty-one assistant messengers and laborers, at $720 each; and twenty two laborers, at not exceeding $2.25 per day.

In the Office of the Treasurer: Seventeen clerks of class four; six clerks of class three; five clerks of class two; nine clerks of class one; one hundred and forty-five counters and copyists, at $900 each; nine messengers, at $840 each per annum; and twenty-six assistant messengers and laborers, at $120 each per annum.

In the Office of the Register of the Treasury: Five chiefs of division, at $2,500 each; one disbursing clerk, at $2,000; twelve clerks of class four; twelve clerks of class three; four clerks of class two; five clerks of class one; one hundred counters and copyists, at $900 each; eight messengers, at $840 each per annum; six assistant messengers and laborers, at $720 each per annum.

In the Office of the First Auditor of the Treasury: Four clerks of class four; three clerks of class three; three clerks of class two; and two clerks of class one.

Supervising Surgeon-General of the United States Marine Hospital Service, $4,000; increase, $2,000.

Supervising Architect of Treasury, $4,500; increase, $500. Deputy comptroller in Office of First Comptroller of the Treasury, at $2,800, (formerly chief clerk, at $2.000 ;) increase, $800. Four chiefs of division, at $2,400 each per annum, formerly clerks of class four (?); increase, $600 each per annum.

Deputy comptroller in Office of Second Comptroller of the Treasury, $2,800, (formerly chief clerk;) increase $800 per annum. Six chiefs of division, at $2,400 each per annum, formerly clerks of class four (?); increase, $600 each per annum.

Deputy comptroller of the currency, $3,000; increase, $500. Four chiefs of division in Office of Comptroller of the Currency, at $2,400 each per annum, (formerly clerks of class four;) increase, $600 each per annum.

The Secretary of the Treasury is authorized to pay, when discharged, one month's pay to such clerks and employés in the Executive Departments at Washington, D. C., as shall be discharged at the close of the present fiscal year, (June 30, 1875,) without fault on their part, but by reason of the reductions of force made necessary by legislation of Congress: Provided, That the amount so paid shall be deducted from the salary of any person receiving the same who shall be re-appointed within six months of the date of such discharge.

The maximum compensation of each surveyor of customs, performing the duties of collectors of customs, is fixed at $5,000 per annum; increase not stated.

By the act (No. 28) making appropriations for the legislative, executive, and judicial expenses of the Government for the year ending June 30, 1876, and for other purposes.

Principal clerk, principal executive clerk, minute and journal clerk, and financial clerk in the office of the Secretary of the Senate, $3,000 each per annum; increase, $408 each.

Assistant postmaster and mail-carrier in Senate post-office, $2,088 per annum; increase, $360.'"
