INTRODUCTION OF ORIGINAL MOTIONS AND RESOLUTIONS. Senator Pestana introduced Senate resolution No. 66, as follows:

Resolved, That the further printing of local bills for the use of the Senate be dispensed with.

The resolution was adopted.

Senator Pestana moved that all local bills in the hands of the printer be recalled.

The motion prevailed.

By Senator Ward: Senate bill No. 643, An act to authorize the city of Concordia, Kan., to vote and issue bonds for the purpose of purchasing lots in said city and building thereon an auditorium for public use.

On motion of Senator Ward, an emergency was declared, the rules suspended, and Senate bill No. 643 was placed on second reading.

Senate bill No. 643 was read and referred to the committee of the whole.

By Senator Caldwell: Senate bill No. 644, An act requiring railroad companies to furnish transportation for certain live-stock shippers.

On motion of Senator Caldwell, an emergency was declared, the rules suspended, and Senate bill No. 644 was placed on second reading.

By Senator Conrad (by request): Senate bill No. 654, An act amending section 2 of chapter 55 of the Session Laws of 1895, being "An act authorizing cities of the second-class to purchase, procure, provide, contract for and construct water-works, electric light and gas plants, and to issue bonds for the indebtedness created thereby," and repealing the original section so amended.

By Senator Sponable: Senate bill No. 655, An act authorizing the board of education of the city of Olathe, Johnson county, Kansas, to issue bonds to refund its floating indebtedness, and prescribing the conditions of such issue.

House bill No. 94, An act providing for holding terms of the district court at the cities of Winfield and Arkansas City, in Cowley county, Kansas, and to repeal all acts or parts of acts in conflict with this act.

Substitute for House bill No. 362, An act making appropriations to the State Agricultural College for the erection and equipment of certain buildings, construction of water plant, for the purchase of lands, for maintenance, current expenses, and repairs, for the fiscal years ending June 30, 1903, June 30, 1904, and June 30, 1905, and to provide for fees to be charged students at said Agricultural College.

Substitute for House bill No. 774, An act making an appropriation to George H. Evans for money due him as interest paid on state warrants.
