Mr. Edwards moved that the reading of the journals be dispensed with, which motion prevailed.

Mr. Murdock offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That a committee of three be appointed to wait upon the Governor and ascertain whether he has any further communications to make to the Senate.

Upon which a vote was had and the resolution adopted.

The President appointed as such committee Messrs. Murdock, Matheny, and Price.

MESSAGE FROM THE HOUSE. The following message from the House of Representatives was received and read:

MR. PRESIDENT: I am instructed to inform the Senate that the House of Representatives has adopted House concurrent resolution No. 50, "Appointing a joint committee to wait upon the Governor," and has concurred in the adoption of Senate concurrent resolution No. 45, "Relating to printing the report and evidence of the Pomeroy investigation." Committee to wait upon the Governor on the part of the House, Messrs. Kalloch, Veale, and Buchan.

Chief Clerk of House of Representatives. House concurrent resolution No. 50, “Appointing a joint committee to wait upon the Governor," was laid over under the rules.

Mr. Murdock moved that the rules be suspended and House concurrent resolution No. 50 considered now, which motion prevailed, and House concurrent resolution No. 50, "Appointing a joint committee to wait upon the Governor," was taken up for consideration, and the question being upon the adoption of the resolution, a vote was had and the resolution adopted.

The President appointed as such committee on the part of the Senate, Messrs. Murdock, Matheny and Price.

Mr. Murdock, chairman of the joint committee appointed to wait upon the Governor, made the following report :

MR. PRESIDENT: Your special joint committee appointed to wait upon His Excellency, the Governor, would respectfully report that they have discharged that duty. The Governor informed the committee that he had no further communication to make other than that he takes pleasure in congratulating the Legislature upon the fact that through their action they have been enabled to reduce the taxes of the state thirty-eight per cent. All of which is respectfully submitted.

M. M. MURDOCK, Chairman. The hour having arrived, fixed by concurrent resolution for the adjournment of the Legislature, the Senate adjourned sine die.
