Lord pour Thy Spirit from on high ..
Lord teach us how to pray aright
Lord Thy word abideth
Lord, what frail man observes how oft..
Lord when we bend before Thy throne
Love divine, all love excelling
May the grace of Christ our Saviour
Members of Christ are we
My God, and is Thy table spread
My God, my Father, while I stray
My Shepherd is the living Lord
My soul inspired with sacred love..
Nearer my God to Thee
New every morning is the love
Now let us raise our cheerful strains
Object of my first desire
O blessing rich for sons of men
Oft in sorrow, oft in woe
O for a heart to praise my God
O God, my heart is fixed, 'tis bent
O God of Bethel, by whose hand..
God of hosts, the mighty Lord..
O God of life whose power benign
O God of love, O King of peace
O God our help in ages past
O God Thou art my God alone
O God unseen, yet ever near
O help us, Lord each hour of need
O Holy Ghost, Thou God of peace
O Holy Lord, content to live
O Holy Saviour, friend unseen..
O Lord of hosts, my King and God
O Lord turn not Thy face from me
On Jordan's bank the Baptists' cry
O praise ye the Lord..
praise our God to-day.. O Spirit of the living God
God, this night,
of the light:
e, King of kings,
or Thy dear Son,
hy have done;
myself, and Thee,
ace may be.
at I may dread
s my bed;
at so I may
ep mine eyelids close,
more vigorous make when I awake.
I sleepless lie,
enly thoughts supply;
disturb my rest,
ness me molest!
Whom all blessings flow;
Creatures here below;
o, angelic host;
Son, and Holy Ghost.
Dark and cheerless is the morn,
Lord, if it be reft of Thee:
Joyless is the day's return,
Till Thy mercy's beams we see ;
Till they pour their gladdening light
Through the darkness of our night.
Visit then these souls of Thine,
Pierce the gloom of sin and grief;
Fill us, Lord, with light divine;
Scatter all our unbelief:
More and more Thyself display,
Shining to the perfect day.
AND now the sun's all-piercing ray
Shines brightly in the full mid-day;
His golden beams on every side
Are glittering in their hour of pride.
O Thou, who o'er a guilty world
Thy beams of mercy hast unfurled,
Teach our cold hearts Thy grace to know,
Our love with noontide warmth to glow.
In this dark world while yet we stay,
And through the bliss of endless day,
Thy servants with Thy presence bless,
Jesu, Thou "Son of Righteousness."
GLORY to Thee, my God, this night,
For all the blessings of the light:
Keep me, O keep me, King of kings,
Beneath Thine own Almighty wings!
Forgive me, Lord, for Thy dear Son,
The ill that I this day have done;
That with the world, myself, and Thee,
I, ere I sleep, at peace may be.
Teach me to live, that I may dread
The grave as little as my bed;
Teach me to die, that so
Rise glorious at the awful Day.
O may my soul on Thee repose,
And may sweet sleep mine eyelids close,
Sleep that shall me more vigorous make
To serve my God when I awake.
When in the night I sleepless lie,
My soul with heavenly thoughts supply;
Let no ill dreams disturb my rest,
No powers of darkness me molest!
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, angelic host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
SUN of my soul, Thou Saviour dear,
It is not night if Thou be near :
O may no earth-born cloud arise
To hide Thee from Thy servant's eyes.
When the soft dews of kindly sleep
My wearied eyelids gently steep,
my last thought, how sweet to rest
For ever on my Saviour's breast.
Abide with me from morn till eve,
For without Thee I cannot live;
Abide with me when night is nigh,
For without Thee I dare not die.
If some poor wandering child of Thine Have spurned to-day the voice divine, Now, Lord, the gracious work begin; Let him no more lie down in sin.
Watch by the sick: enrich the poor
With blessings from Thy boundless store
Be every mourner's sleep to-night,
Like infant's slumbers, pure and light.
Come near and bless us when we wake, Ere through the world our way we take; Till in the ocean of Thy love
We lose ourselves in Heaven above,
