Smith Mr. Gurley, from the Committee on Printing, to whom the subject was referred. reported the following resolution, viz: Resolved, That 50,000 extra copies of the report of the Committee on Expenditures in the Navy Department, and the resolutions thereon adopted by the House. together with a like number of the majority and minority reports, and the testimony taken before the Committee on Public Expenditures upon the subject of the public printing, be printed for the use of the members of the House: Provided, That these reports, resolutions, and the testimony, when thus printed, shall be bound in one volume, with the reports and testimony of the select committee, of which Hon. John Covode is chairman; but this resolution. is not to be construed as embracing the report of the naval investigating committee made at the last session of Congress. Pending which, Mr. Burnett moved to amend the same as follows: Insert after the words "together with" the words "the report on naval contracts made by Mr. Bocock at the last session of Congress, excluding the testimony taken at that session, and also"; and strike out all after the word "chairman" to the end of the resolution. Pending which, Mr. Gurley moved the previous question; which was seconded and the main question ordered to be put. When Mr. Morrill, by unanimous consent, from the committee of conference on the disagreeing votes of the two houses on the bill of the House (H. R. 339) making appropriations for the legislative, executive, and judicial expenses of the government for the year ending the 30th of June, 1861, reported that the said committee were unable to agree upon a report. On motion of Mr. Morrill, the House receded from its disagreement to the amendments of the Senate numbered 3, 4, 8, 11, 15, and 17, to the said bill of the House No. 339, and agreed to the same; also receded from its disagreement to the amendments of the Senate numbered 18 and 20, and agreed to the same with amendment; also further insisted on its disagreement to the amendments of the Senate numbered 12, 13, 14, 19, 21, 22, 23, and 24, and also further insisted on its amendment to the 7th amendment of the Senate to the said bill. Mr. Morrill moved that the House recede from its disagreement to the 16th amendment of the Senate. A message was received from the President of the United States. by J. Buchanan, his private secretary, notifying the House that he did this day approve and sign a bill of the following title, viz: H. A message from the Senate, by Mr. Patton, one of their clerks: Mr. Speaker: The Senate have agreed to the amendment of this House to the bill of the Senate (S. 104) for the final adjustment of private land claims in the States of Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri, and for other purposes. The Senate have also agreed to the report of the committee of conference on the disagreeing votes of the two houses on the bill of the House (H. R. 44) confirming certain land entries under the 3d section. of the act of 3d March, 1855, entitled "An act making appropriations for the service of the Post Office Department during the fiscal year ending June 30, 1856." Mr. Sherman, from the committee of conference on the disagreeing votes of the two houses on the bill of the House (H. R. 501) making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the government for the year ending the 30th of June, 1861, submitted the following report, viz: "The committee of conference on the disagreeing votes of the two houses on the amendments to the bill (H. R. 501) making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the government for the year ending the thirtieth of June, eighteen hundred and sixty-one,' having met, after full and free conference have agreed to recommend to their respective houses as follows: That the Senate recede from the following amendments, viz: 10, 15, 16, 20, 24, 28, 41, 42, 43, 44, and 45. 66 That the House recede from their disagreement to the following amendments of the Senate and agree to the same, viz: 13, 19, 21, 23, 26, 29, 31, 36, 37, and 39. "That the House recede from their disagreement to the 7th amendment of the Senate, and agree to the same with an amendment as follows: "After the word 'columns,' in the 5th line, insert the words 'of American marble;' and after the word 'the,' in the 7th line, insert the word 'aforesaid,' and after the word 'sum,' in the 7th line, insert the words of three hundred thousand dollars.' "That the House recede from their disagreement to the 9th amendment of the Senate, and agree to the same with an amendment as follows: "After the word 'aqueduct,' in the 1st line of said amendment, strike out the words according to the plans and estimates of Captain Meigs;' after the word 'dollars,' in the third line, insert the words to be expended according to the plans and estimates of Captain Meigs, and under his superintendence;' and strike out all after the word 'aqueduct,' in the 6th line, to the end thereof. "That the House recede from their disagreement to the 14th amendment of the Senate, and agree to the same, with an amendment as follows: "Strike out the word 'seven,' in said amendment, and insert in lieu thereof the word 'two;' and at the end of the paragraph add as follows: 'and the act incorporating the "Washington Gas-Light Company' is hereby so amended as to prohibit said company from receiving, after the thirty-first day of December next, more than thirty-five cents per hundred cubic feet of gas furnished by it to ary consumer, subject to a discount of not less than ten per centum on all bills for gas, if paid at the office of said company within five days from the rendition thereof, provided all arrears shall have been previously paid.' That the Senate agree to the amendment of the House to their 30th amendment. "That the House recede from their amendment to the 35th amendment of the Senate, and agree to the same.
