A Hymn of Praise.

LESSED art thou, O Lord: who on the seventh day didst rest from all thy work, and therefore didst bless and sanctify it. A. And givest us weekly a day of rest: to remind us of the rest which remaineth for thy people.

M. Glory to thee, O blessed Jesus: who having finished thy work, didst as upon this day enter into thy rest.

A. When they had finished all that was written of thee: they took thee down from the tree, and laid thee in a sepulchre.

M. But there thy heart was glad, and thy glory rejoiced: thy flesh also did rest in hope. A. For God left not thy soul in hell: neither suffered he his Holy One to see corruption.

M. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me.

A. When my flesh and my heart faileth: be thou the strength of my heart, and my portion for

ever.

M. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;

A. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.

I. COLLECT OF THE DAY.

II.

-A PRAYER FOR BURIAL TOGETHER WITH CHRIST.

G1

RANT, O Lord, that as we are baptized into

the death of thy blessed Son our Saviour Jesus Christ, so by continual mortifying our corrupt affections we may be buried with him; and that through the grave, and gate of death, we may pass to our joyful resurrection; for his merits, who died, and was buried, and rose again for us, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

III. -A PRAYER FOR THE WHOLE CHURCH.

LMIGHTY and everliving God, who by thy holy Apostle hast taught us to make prayers, and supplications, and to give thanks,

for all men; We most humbly beseech thee most mercifully to receive these our prayers, which we offer unto thy Divine Majesty; beseeching thee to inspire continually the universal Church with the spirit of truth, unity, and concord: And grant that all they that do confess thy holy Name may agree in the truth of thy holy Word, and live in unity and godly love. And we most humbly beseech thee of thy goodness, O Lord, to comfort and succour all them, who in this transitory life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity. And we also bless thy holy Name for all thy servants departed this life in thy faith and fear; beseeching thee to give us grace so to follow their good examples, that with them we may be partakers of thy heavenly kingdom: Grant this, O Father, for Jesus Christ's sake, our only Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

IV. THANKSGIVING.

LMIGHTY God and heavenly Father, who of thy gracious Providence, and tender mercy towards us, hast preserved and blessed us hitherto; We most humbly praise and magnify thy most glorious Name for thy unspeakable goodness towards us. We confess it has been of thy mercy alone, that we are not consumed for our sins have cried to heaven against us; and our iniquities justly called for vengeance upon But thou hast not dealt with us after our

sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. Let the consideration of this thy repeated goodness, O Lord, work in us true repentance, that iniquity may not be our ruin. And increase in us more and more a lively faith and love, fruitful in all holy obedience; that thou mayest still continue thy favour, with the light of thy Gospel, to us and our posterity for evermore; and that for thy dear Son's sake, Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

Benediction.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your (our) spirit. Amen.

SATURDAY EVENING.

THO

Invocation.

HOU that hearest the prayer: unto thee shall all flesh come. My misdeeds prevail against me: Oh be thou merciful unto our sins.

Confession.

GOD, in whose hand is our life, We acknowledge that we have greatly wasted and misused the time and the talents with which thou hast entrusted us; And that, if thou hadst dealt with us in any measure as we have deserved, thou wouldest long ago have cut us off in thy wrath, Or utterly removed from us the means of grace and salvation. But thou art long-suffering towards us, O God, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. For thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ's sake, forgive us all that is past, And let thy long-suffering lead us to repentance; And shew us, we beseech thee, thy ways, and teach us thy paths, That we may amend our lives according to thy holy Word, And may henceforth
