V.-INTERCESSION FOR THE WHOLE CHURCH.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, by whose

Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified; Receive our supplications and prayers, which we offer before thee for all estates of men in thy holy Church, that every member of the same in his vocation and ministry, may truly and godly serve thee; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thanksgiving.

MOST blessed and glorious Lord God, who art of infinite goodness and mercy; We thy poor creatures, whom thou hast made and preserved, holding our souls in life, humbly present ourselves before thy Divine Majesty, to offer unto thee our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. And, we beseech thee, give us such a sense of thy mercy, as may engage us to a true thankfulness, such as may appear in our lives by an humble, holy, and obedient walking before thee all our days, through Jesus Christ our Lord; to whom with thee and the Holy Spirit be all glory and honour, world without end. Amen.

Benediction.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your (our) spirit. Amen.

IN

MONDAY EVENING.

Invocation.

N the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Confession.

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father, We confess that we have this day sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, And are no more worthy to be called thy children: But do thou pity, and cleanse, and forgive, and save us for thy dear Son's sake. Oh, remember not how little we have this day grown in grace, and in the knowledge of thee; But give us this night true repentance, And hearty desires to serve thee better all the rest of our lives, And strength to bring the same to good effect; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ABSOLUTION.

ALMIGHTY God, the Father of our Lord

Jesus Christ, pardoneth and absolveth all

them that truly repent, and unfeignedly believe his holy Gospel.

Answer. Thanks be to thee, O Lord, for this message of peace.

[Or, if no Priest be present, this Collect.]

LORD, we beseech thee, mercifully hear our prayers, and spare all those who confess their sins unto thee; that they, whose consciences by sin are accused, by thy merciful pardon may be absolved; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer.

UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil : For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

M. O Lord, open thou our lips.

A. And our mouth shall shew forth thy praise. ¶ Here all shall stand up.

A Hymn of Praise.

(To be repeated by the whole Family after the Master.) LORY be to God in the highest, The Creator and Lord of heaven and earth, The Preserver of all things, The Father of mercies; Who

so loved mankind as to send his only-begotten Son into the world, To redeem us from sin and misery, And to obtain for us everlasting life. Accept, O gracious God, our praises and thanksgivings for thine infinite mercies towards us, And teach us, Lord, to love thee more and serve thee better; Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

BLES

Or this,

LESSED Saviour, Lord of all,
Vouchsafe to hear us when we call ;

And now to those propitious be,
That in prayer bow to thee,
Still to be kept from misery.

Great Ruler of the day and night,
On our darkness cast thy light ;
And let thy passion pardon win,
For we have offended in

Thought, or word, or deed of sin.
And as thy mercy wipes away
What we have done amiss to-day;
So now the night returns again,
Our bodies and our souls refrain
From being soil'd with sinful stain.

Let not dull sleep oppress our eyes,
Nor us the enemy surprise;
Nor fearful dreams our minds affright,
While the blackness of the night
Holds from us the cheerful light.

To thee, who dost by rest renew
Our wasted strength, we humbly sue
That, when we shall unclose our eyes,
Pure and chaste we may arise,
And make our morning sacrifice.

Honour, Lord, to thee be done,
O thou blessed Virgin's Son,
With the Father and the Spirit,
As is thine eternal merit

Ever and ever to inherit. Amen.

Collects and Prayers.

(All kneeling, and the Person Officiating first saying, Let us pray.)

I.-COLLECT OF THE DAY.

[ocr errors]
[blocks in formation]

GOD, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works do proceed; Give unto thy servants that peace which the world cannot give; that both our hearts may be set to obey thy commandments, and also that by thee we being defended from the fear of our enemies may pass our time in rest and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

III.-INTERCESSION FOR THE FAMILY.

LORD, let it be thy good pleasure to bless our parents, our brothers and sisters, all our relations, and all our friends. Lord, thou knowest best all our wants and all our desires ; do thou therefore suit thy graces and blessings to our several necessities of body and soul. We
