M. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;

A. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.

Collects and Prayers.

(All kneeling, and the Person Officiating first saying, Let us pray.)

I.-COLLECT OF THE DAY.

II. FOR GRACE TO PUT AWAY SIN.

LMIGHTY Father, who hast given thine only Son to die for our sins, and to rise again for our justification; Grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness, that we may always serve thee in pureness of living and truth; through the merits of the same thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

III. -FOR PREPARATION OF THE HEART TO SEEK GOD.

O

OUR God, we humbly beseech thee to purify our hearts from all vain, and worldly, and sinful thoughts, and so to prepare our souls to worship thee this day acceptably, with reverence and godly fear. O Lord, set our affection on things above all the day long; and give us

grace to receive thy Word, which we shall hear this day, into honest and good hearts, and to bring forth fruit with patience: Hear us, O God, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

Or,

GOD, who hast consecrated this good day to thy service, give us grace so to observe it, that it may be the beginning of a happy week to us, and that none of thy judgments may fall upon us for profaning it. Mercifully accept the prayers of thy holy Church throughout the world, which shall be this day offered to the throne of grace; give us grace to prepare our hearts, that we may serve thee with reverence and godly fear; grant us an awful apprehension of thy Divine Majesty, and a deep sense of our own unworthiness; that so approaching thy sanctuary with lowliness and devotion, and coming before thee with clean thoughts and pure hearts, with bodies undefiled, and minds sanctified, we may perform a service acceptable to thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

IV.-INTERCESSION.

LORD, we most humbly beseech thee to hearken graciously unto the prayers, and to accept of the praises which are offered unto thee this day by thy holy Catholic Church throughout the world. Bless, O Lord, thy whole Church, and that branch especially of it to which

we belong; and grant that all they that confess thy holy Name, may agree in the truth of thy holy Word, and, departing from all iniquity, may devoutly serve thee in all good works to their lives' end; that we with them and they with us, and with all those that are departed in thy most holy faith, may inherit thine everlasting kingdom, and enter into that rest which thou hast prepared for thy people; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, blessed for ever. Amen.

Or,

OST merciful Father, we beseech thee to

MOST send upon thy servants, the clergy, thy

heavenly blessing; that they may be clothed with righteousness, and that thy Word spoken by their mouths may have such success, that it may never be spoken in vain. Grant also, that we may have grace to hear and receive what they shall deliver out of thy most holy Word, or agreeable to the same, as the means of our salvation; that in all our words and deeds we may seek thy glory, and the increase of thy kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

MOST

Or,

OST merciful Father, we beseech Thee to send down upon all thy ministering servants thy heavenly blessing; and so endue them with thy holy Spirit, that they, preaching thy

Word, may not only be earnest to reprove, beseech, and rebuke with all patience and doctrine; but also may be to such as believe a wholesome example, in word, in conversation, in love, in faith, in chastity, and in purity; that, faithfully fulfilling their course, at the latter day they may receive the crown of righteousness laid up by the Lord the righteous Judge, who liveth and reigneth one God with the Father and the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.

GOD, who of thine infinite goodness hast set apart one day out of seven for rest from our labours, and hast mercifully consecrated this good day to thy service; give us grace to spend it in a thoughtful and religious manner; bless all Bishops and Pastors of thy Church, that they may rightly minister thy Word and Sacraments; bless thy people, that they may profit by the same; and grant that we may all so live here, as to obtain a blessed sabbath in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

[Before the Holy Communion any of the following Prayers may be used.]

O

I.

GOD, the searcher of hearts, prepare us to receive the Sacrament of Christ's Body and Blood with true piety and devotion; pour thy

grace into our souls, that we may go worthily to so sacred a feast. O Lord, all our desires are before thee; we offer to thee our whole hearts, and all that we have: Lord, regard the wishes, and hear the prayers of thy servants; and of thy great goodness give us what is wanting to help our weakness; for the love of thy dear Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

II.

GOD, whose blessed Son our Saviour Jesus

Christ was made partaker of death for us, that we might be partakers with him of life eternal, who also in the same night in which he was betrayed, did institute and ordain holy mysteries, as pledges of his love, and for a continual remembrance of his death; Mercifully grant that we, with all those who shall this day come to thy holy Table, may be filled with the Spirit of grace in the inner man that drawing near with true penitent hearts and lively faith, we may receive that holy Sacrament to our present and everlasting comfort; through the same thy Son our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

BLESSED Jesus, who of thine infinite mercy hast given thine own Body and Blood to be our spiritual food, to strengthen and refresh our souls; grant that we may be
