who get hold of the third division of the Revolutionary Charter and want to work that out, forgetting that two others come first. We must secure liberty and equality before we can have fraternity. We must fight the last battle of Liberty before we can hope to secure Fraternity.

CONCEPTION.

Many grand scientific discoveries have been arrived at through the fortuitous concourse in the mind of one man of ordinary ideas apparently quite unconnected. We are now doubtless familiar with numerous isolated facts and circumstances which if memory would present us with simultaneously, and in their proper groupings, truths would become clear, discoveries would be made, that are unsuspected now, and that will be novelties to the world a century hence.

The confiding nature of woman renders it necessary for her comfort that she should have a stronger will than her own to fall

back upon at times. A man feels no such necessity. If he is naturally infirm of purpose, and knows the defect, he does not commonly look upon it as one to be remedied from without. A woman, on the contrary, looks in her male friend for a real spiritual helpmate and guide, and is sorely disappointedif she finds in him one whose moral qualities are inferior to her own.
