THE earlier editions of this great work, edited by has been passed or adopted under the Federal Const Mr. Peters, having been found deficient in the anno-tution, so that the reader may see at a glance the whol tations and index, the publishers revised the former, law on any single subject. and cancelled Mr. Peters's index, which is now replaced by a complete one, made by George Minot, Esq., the indefatigable author of the Digest of the Massachusetts Reports. The text, pronounced immac-lated and compared with the original Rolls in the Archives ulate by act of Congress, stands without change. We give an extract from the act herewith. It is the only uniform edition ever published from the Rolls, and the only one referred to or quoted by the Supreme Court of the United States. The Synoptical Index, prepared under an order of the Senate, refers under copious titles to each Law, and every Joint, and Senate, and House Resolve, public or private, which
