AN ACT

Authorizing William Searight to make a certain deed.

WHEREAS, It has been represented to this legislature, that William Searight, late superintendent of the Cumberland road, exchanged a lot of ground with William Reynolds, for a lot of a like quantity, containing twenty-two and four-tenth perches; the former adjoining the Cumberland road on the north, toll-gate lot on the east, and land of William Reynolds on the south, situate in Addison township, Somerset county, and in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania:

And whereas, The title of the said lot, by which the agents of said Cumberland road became vested in them, has been lost or destroyed; in remedy whereof,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Superintendent William Searight, late superintendent of the Cumberland road, be and he is hereby authorized and empowered to convey the said lot of ground to the said William Reynolds, by deed, in fee simple, to be executed according to the laws of this commonwealth.

A FURTHER SUPPLEMENT

To the charter of the borough of West Greenville, Mercer county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the streets, roads, lanes and alleys, which were laid out by the proprietors of the tracts of land situate in the borough of West Greenville, in the county of Mercer, are hereby confirmed and declared to be public public highways. highways, as fully, to all intents and purposes, as if they had been laid

out by order of the court of quarter sessions of said county, or by the supervisors of said borough or township in which said borough is situate; and all streets, roads, lanes and alleys, which may hereafter be laid out by the owner or owners of land situated in said borough, through the me, which may be approved by the town council of said borough, and of which a plot or draft showing the course, length and width of said streets, roads, lanes and alleys. and their connection with each other, and with other streets in said borough, as well as the lands and provements through which they pass, signed by the owner or owners of said lands, duly certified by the president and clerk of the town counof said borough, as approved by said council, shall have been filed m the office of the clerk of the court of quarter sessions of said county, shall thereafter also be considered public highways, as fully, to all inteas and purposes, as if the same had been laid out by an order of said court, or supervisors as aforesaid; and it shall be the duty of said town council to keep the streets, roads, lanes and alleys, which have been or may hereafter be laid out as above mentioned, in good repair; and the said council shall have the same power and authority to regulate streets, roads, lanes and alleys, and to compel the owners of lots lands bounding thereon, to curb and pave the side walks in front of their respective lots and lands, as are now possessed by the town counof the borough of Norristown, Montgomery county, under the proTons of the act, and several supplements thereto, incorporating said beroagh.

SECTION 3. That hereafter the qualified electors of the borough of Elections.

AN ACT

Relating to the directors of the poor in the county of Chester.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Poor or indigent any poor or indigent person entitled to relief, or that may have gained persons, how ad- a legal settlement in said county of Chester, shall be admitted into the house of employment of said county, on an order for that purpose granted by any one of the directors of the poor of said county, or by any justice of the peace of said county; for which service, no justice of the peace shall be entitled to fees or reward; and the constables of the said county of Chester shall be entitled to receive from said directors, for executing an order for the relief or removal of a pauper or paupers, five cents per mile circular, and no more: Provided, That in all cases in which there is more than one order executed by any constable at the same time, for the first order five cents per mile circular, for the second four cents, for the third three cents, and for any additional number of orders above three, executed at the same time, no mileage shall be allowed.

SECTION 2. That the said directors of the poor, in addition to the salary now allowed by law, shall be entitled to receive the sum of one dollar and thirty-three cents each, for every day necessarily employed by them, in attending on any suit or action where the said corporation of the poor is interested, or for the performance of any services out of the said house of employment, which they shall, deem essential to the interests of the said corporation; and all payments heretofore made by the treasurers of said county to any director for services thus rendered, be and the same are hereby legalized and confirmed; and all laws inconsistent with the provisions of this act, are hereby repealed.

Relative to the estate of John Meixell, senior, deceased, of Leacock township,
Lancaster county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That

his successor, be and he is hereby authorized to sell, at public sale, at such time or times, and upon such terms as he deems most advantageous for the estate of said deceased, after giving public notice in at least three weekly newspapers, four weeks in succession previous to said sale, published in the county of Lancaster, a part or parts of the one hundred and six acres of land remaining of said deceased, situate in Upper Leacock township, Lancaster county, adjoining lands of George Groff, George Bard, and others, and in such parcels as he may deem best for the purpose of paying the debts on said premises, and to raise a sufficient sum of money to erect a suitable and convenient barn on and for the residue of said real estate; which barn he is hereby authorized to erect.

SECTION 2. The said executor and trustee is hereby authorized to Toexecute deeds. make and execute a deed or deeds to the purchaser or purchasers of

the land, sold in pursuance of the authority by this act granted.

SECTION 3. The said executor and trustee shall, before acting under To give security. the power hereby granted, and making sale of any part of said real estate, give security to be approved of by the orphans' court of Lancaster county, for the faithful appropriation and application of the proceeds of sale, to the purposes set forth in the foregoing section of this act.

Preamble.

No. 86.

AN ACT

Relating to certain real estate, situate in the Northern Liberties, and county of
Philadelphia.

WHEREAS, Philip Stock being seized in fee of and in the following described lots of ground, to wit: a lot of ground with the messuages thereon erected, situate on the north side of Tammany street. eightytwo feet ten inches west of Delaware Fourth street, in the Northern Liberties, and county of Philadelphia, containing in front fifty-five feet, and in depth on the east line one hundred and thirty-nine feet four inches, and on the west line one hundred and thirty-seven feet nine inches; also, a lot of ground situate on the west side of Delaware Fourth street, one hundred and forty-six feet nine inches and one-half inch north of Tammany street, in the same district, containing in front on the said Fourth street forty feet, and in depth one hundred and eighty-one feet, more or less, to Crown street; also, a lot of ground situate on the east side of Crown street, in the same district, containing in front forty feet, and in depth to West's line; and also, a lot of ground situate on the west side of the said Fourth street, between Noble and Green streets, in the said district, containing in front twenty feet, and in depth ninety feet, bounded on the south by the last described lot, did, on the eighth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and fifteen, make his last will and testament, proved on the third day of April, in the same year, and registered at Philadelphia, in book number six, page nineteen, and wherein and whereby he devised the said lots of ground in the residue of his estate, after the death of his wife, to all the children of his son Frederick Stock, born, or to be born, their respective beirs, executors, and administrators, forever, in equal parts and shares, as tenants in common; subject, nevertheless, to the payment of the rents, issues, profits, and interest of the same to their father during all the term of his natural life; and the widow of the said testator after· wards departed this life:

And whereas, The said Frederick Stock, the son of the testator, is yet living and has the following named children, viz: Samuel F. Stock, Catharine Whetstone, widow, George B. Stock, Frederick J. Stock, John W. Stock, Maria Johnson, widow, and Louisa Mensch, wife of George C. Mensch :

And whereas, By divers good conveyances, the undivided shares in the premises of three of the said children, viz: Catharine Whetstone, George B. Stock, and Frederick J. Stock, became vested in Thomas Weaver, Joseph L. Hancock, and David Bacon, who, with their respective wives, did, by indenture, dated the ninth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-nine, (recorded in deed book G S, number twenty four, page six hundred and fifty-nine, et cetera,) grant and convey all their undivided interest in the premises to Joseph Bacon, in fee in trust, immediately upon the death of the said Frederick Stock, (the father,) or as soon thereafter as convenient, to sell and dispose of the same, either at public or private sale, for the best cash price that could be gotten for the same, and to make deeds for the same, free of all
