Fac-simile of a part of one of the "Woodhouse" bonds issued by General Carvajal, who
served under Benito Juarez in the latter's revolutionary operations, 1855-1865. Juarez, when
President, repudiated the bonds. Gustavo Madero offered $5,000,000 of them in 1910 to the
Standard Oil Company, and others for $1,000,000 cash to be used in support of the Maulero
revolt. The proposal included an undertaking that the junta at Washington should guarantee
redemption of the bonds at par by the Madero Government.
