GENTLEMEN: Senate Resolution 83, Seventieth Congress, first session, directs the Federal Trade Commission to obtain certain information from holding companies. You are therefore requested to furnish the commission with a list as of March 1, 1928, of the public-utility companies and nonpublic-utility companies you control, directly or indirectly, showing name of company, address, character of business (as electric, gas, gas and electric, etc.), States in which they operate, number of shares owned, and the number of shares outstanding. If there are intermediate holding companies please include them in the list and in such a manner that the relations between the different holding companies and different operating companies will be perfectly clear. If your company performs services for public-utility companies, please state the names and addresses of the utility companies served together with the kinds of service rendered in each case during the period from January 1, 1927, to date. A franked envelope is enclosed for your convenience in replying.
