CHAPTER I.

Neceffity defined. Short account of fate, and the order ob-

ferved in the chain of things. Neceffity perfectly compatible

with voluntary freedom

CHAPTER II.

Man a compound being. Senfation the only fource of his ideas.

The foul's extenfive dependence on the body, during their

prefent ftate of connection. An argument, drawn from thence,

Probable equality of human fouls. Brutes themselves not merely

material. Neceffity confiftent with the morality of actions;

ciples of chance and felf attermination. Anti-neceffitarians
