For Ministers, Sunday-School Superintendents and Teachers, Theological Students, and Household Libraries.

SMITH'S DICTIONARY OF THE BIBLE.

Comprising its Antiquities, Biography, Geography, and Natural History. American edition, unabridged, enlarged, and corrected. Edited by Prof. H. B. HACKETT and EZRA ABBOT, LL. D. Four vols., 8vo, cloth, $26.00; sheep, $30.00; half calf, $36.00.

The London Bookseller pronounces this American edition "the most complete work of the kind in the English, or, indeed, in any other language."

No similar work in our own or in any other language is for a moment to be compared with it. —Quarterly Review (London).

In paper, press-work, cuts, maps, etc., we do not see anything to choose between this and the more costly English original; while in a multitude of other respects which affect the trustworthiness, thoroughness, and supreme excellence of the work as a thesaurus of Biblical knowledge, this is vastly to be preferred. - Congregational Review.

As a companion to the Bible, as a work of reference for the study, as a book to own and to read, to place in the library and in the Sabbath-school, we know not its superior, and know of nothing to take its place. Watchman and Reflector (Boston).

This magnificent work has no rival in its department.

Sunday-School Times.

This Dictionary is itself a library, and every minister should be the possessor of a copy of it. We believe that this American edition is, in every respect, the best work of the kind yet published. — Zion's Herald. This is the only complete edition of Smith's great Dictionary, and the only edition which contains the very important additions made by and under the supervision of Dr. H. B. Hackett and Prof. Ezra Abbot.

NEANDER'S GENERAL HISTORY OF THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION AND CHURCH.

Translated from the German, by Rev. JOSEPH TORREY, Professor in the University of Vermont. Five vols 8vo, $18.00.

"Neander's Church History" is one of the most profound, carefully considered, deeply philosophized, candid, truly liberal, and independent historical works that has been written. In all these respects it stands head and shoulders above almost any other Church history in existence. - CALVIN E. STOWE, D. D. Neander still remains beyond doubt the greatest Church historian, thus far, of the nineteenth century. — Dr. PHILIP SCHAFF, History of the Apostolic Church.

BIBLICAL RESEARCHES IN PALESTINE.

By EDWARD ROBINSON, D. D. Three vols., 8vo, with maps, cloth, $10.00; maps separate, $1.00. We have not the slightest hesitation in pronouncing the topography of Jerusalem in this work by far the most full, complete, and satisfactory which has yet appeared in any language. This work, by the industry, good sense, and erudition displayed throughout its pages, does great credit, and we trust is of happy omen, to the rising literature of America.- London Quarterly Review. Dean STANLEY says, "To that work I have felt that I and all students of Biblical literature owe a debt that can never be effaced;" and he emphasizes the thorough observation shown in this work, "its extreme accuracy," and its admirable style.

NEW MISSIONARY MAP OF THE WORLD.

The map consists of two hemispheres, large, on one sheet. Dimensions 64 by 12 feet. It is printed in oil colors, on fine cloth manufactured and finished expressly for this purpose. The names of the central stations of all Protestant Missionary Societies, both American and Foreign, are shown in bold lettering. The stations of American Societies are distinguished by being underlined in green, and those of other Societies by a line of red color, so that, without the least confusion, these important facts are prominently presented to the eye at first glance.

The stations of the American Board have a special mark of designation, a heavy red dot. A Manual, or Key, accompanies the map. Publishers' price of Map with Manual, $20.

In order to encourage and insure the preparation and publication of so important an aid, the officers of the AMERICAN BOARD contracted to take a considerable number of the Maps as soon as issued. In order to encourage the general use of the map in connection with the monthly Missionary Concert and other missionary gatherings, the Map, with Manual, will be furnished, until otherwise noticed, at the office of the MISSIONARY HERALD, or will be sent to any address, by mail, postage prepaid, for $15.00. For obvious reasons, the money must in all cases accompany the order. Send check or postal money order, to

This compact and powerful instrument is designed to meet a long-felt want for an Organ adapted to Sunday-school, Chapel, or Hall services, which would enable the player to face the audience and be plainly seen by them. It fulfills all the requirements for such uses admirably, and has proved a distinct success. The back is handsomely finished to correspond with the front, and arranged to let out the full volume of sound.
