If then ye were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. Col. iii. 1.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For ye received not the spirit of bondage again unto fear; but ye received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Rom. viii. 14, 15.

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And he that heareth, let him say, Come. And he that is athirst, let him come: he that will, let him take the water of life freely. Rev. xxii. 17.

If I say, Surely the darkness shall overwhelm me,
And the light about me shall be night;

Even the darkness hideth not from thee,

But the night shineth as the day. Psalm cxxxix. 11, 12.

And they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is now far spent. And he went in to abide with them. And it came to pass, when he had sat down with them to meat, he took the bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. St. Luke xxiv. 29-31.

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me may not abide in the darkness. St. John xii. 46.

Then this Prayer, the Minister first saying,

Let Us Pray.

ALMIGHTY God, unto whom all hearts are open,

all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid; Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love Thee, and worthily magnify Thy holy Name; through Christ our Lord.

Here, and at the end of each of these Prayers, let the Congregation say, Amen.

Or this Prayer.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who art always

more ready to hear than we to pray, and art wont to give more than either we desire or deserve; Pour down upon us the abundance of Thy mercy; forgiving us those things whereof our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things which we are not worthy to ask, but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

Or this.

ALMIGHTY God, from whom cometh down every good and perfect gift, and who pourest out on all who desire it the Spirit of grace and supplication; Deliver us, when we draw nigh to Thee, from coldness of heart and wanderings of mind; that with steadfast thoughts and kindled affections we may worship Thee in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Then the Lord's Prayer, the Congregation repeating it with the Minister.

OUR

UR Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Then likewise he shall say,

O Lord, open Thou our lips.

Answer. And our mouth shall show forth Thy praise.

Here, all standing up, the Minister shall say,

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;

Answer. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end.

Minister. Praise ye the Lord.

Amen.
