a Priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

n

7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was

Jesus, made an High Priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. do. vii. 1, 2, 3, 15, 16, 17, 21: This Melchisedec, king of Salem, Priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a Priest continually. After the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another Priest, who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. For he testifieth, Thou art a Priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. For those Priests were made without an oath; but this was with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a Priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

m MAT. xxvi. 39, 42, 44: He went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. do. xxvii. 46, 50: Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
