Mr. Trowbridge, from the committee on Territorial Affairs, to whom had been recommitted "a bill amendatory of certain acts relauve to the duties and privileges of townships," reported,

"A bill amendatory of certain acts relative to the duties and privileges of townships, and for other purposes;" which was read the fisme; and, on motion, said bill was then read the second time and laid on the table.

ur. M'Jonell, from the committeo on Territorial Affairs, to whom certain pections from the township of Ypsilanti had been referred, reported,

"A bill to set off and organise the township of Chigome, in the county of Washtenaw;" which was read the first time; and, on medon, said bill was then read the second time and laid on the table. The bill to provide for the erection of a County Poor House (and for other purposes) in the county of Wayne," was taken up; the question being on the passage of the bill.

Mr. Lawrence then moved, that the 21st section of said bill be stricken out; the motion was decided in the negative; and Mr. Lawrence requiring the ayes and nays, they were taken as follows: Ayes-Messis. Durocher, Lawrence, Trowbridge-3.

Megs-messis. Brown, Connor, Edwards, Irwin, M’Donell, Noble, Schoolcraft—7.

ne question "shall the bill pass" was then put, and was declacd in the affirmative.

So the bill passed.

The "bill to amend an act, entitled "an act to provide for the appointment, and to regulate the duties of District Attorneys," was taken up, read the third time, and, on motion, said bill was then la on the table until to-morrow.

The bill to restrict the jurisdiction of the County Courts of the counties of Michilimackinac, Brown, and Crawford ;" was taken up, read the third time and passed.

The bill to amend an act, entitled "an act defining the mode of lay ug out and establishing Territorial Roads," was taken up in committee of the whole, and on motion, was again laid on the table.

The "bill relative to Mill-Ponds," was taken up in committee of the whole; and, on motion, the consideration of said bill was postponed unul Wednesday next.

The bill to provide for laying out certain Territorial Roads, and for outer purposes; was taken up in committee of the whole; the quests being on gree.ng to the amendment moved by Mr. M Donell on the Tech inst to stand as the 7th section. The question an thesd amendment being put, was decided in the negative; and Me Doneli requiring the aves and nays, they were taken as fol

lows:

Mr. M'Donell then moved, that the bill be amended by sing out the word "Territorial," wherever it occurs in the bill, asert in lieu thereof the word " County;" the motion was decided in the negative; and Mr. Donell having required the ayes and nays on the question, they were taken as follows:

Ayes Messrs. Brown, Connor, Edwards, M'Donell-4. Nays--Messrs. Durecher, Irwin, Lawrence, Noble, Schoolcraft, Trowbridge 6.

Mr. Irwia then moved that the blank in the 4th line of the 8th section, Be filled by inserting the words "one hundred ;" and the motion was agreed to.

Mr. Durocher then moved that the bill be further amended, by striking out the words "to Tecumseh," after the word "Login," in the 3d line of the 3d section, and that the following be inserted, viz:-" and also through the township ef Adrian"-and that after the word "Lenawe," in the 4th line of said section, the following be inserted, viz:-" to intersect the Chicago Road, on the most direct and eligible route ;" and the motion was agreed to.

The bill, as amended, was then reported to the Council, and the amendments having been concurred in;

Mr. Noble moved that the bill be engrossed and read a third time on Tuesday next. The motion was decided in the affirmative; and the ayes and nays being called for by Mr. Irwin, they were taken as follows:

Ayes-Messrs. Durocher, Edwards, Irwin, Lawrence, Noble, Schoolcraft. Trowbridge-7.

Nays-Messrs. Brown, Connor, M'Donell-3.

Mr. Irwin submitted the following resolutic, which was laid on the table:

Resolved, That the Governor be requested to communicate to the Legislative Council, at its next session, such information as he can obtain, in relation to the present state of the arms and ordnance, received from the General Government for the Militia of this Territory, since the year one thousand eight hundred and seventeen; to whom issued; the number and description of such as are lost; and

quantity now remaining with the several companies, so far as can be ascertained and also, what further provision ought, in his opinion, to be made by law, for the more effectual preservation, from loss or injury, of the same.

The bill to adjourn and regulate the time of holding the County Court for the county of Wayne," was taken up in committee of the whole.

Mr. M'Donell moved that said bill be amended by striking out the word "January," wherever i. occurred in said bill, and asserting in lieu thereof the word "September" and the motion was agreed to.

Said bill was then reported to the Council, and the amendments made in committee having been concuried in ;

Mr. Noble moved that it be now read a third time; and the motion having been agreed to, the bill was read a third time.

On motion, the question "shall the bill pass ?" was then put, and vas decided in the affirmative.

So the bill passed.

On motion of Mr. Noble, the Council took a recess of half an hour. 2 o'clock, P. M. Mr. Noble, from the committee of Enrolment, reported as cor. rectly enrolled, bills entitled as follows:

"An act to adjourn and regulate the time of holding the County Court of the county of Wayne;""an act to authorise the erection of Court-Houses and Gaols in the counties of Brown and Chippewa ;""an act to exempt the Clerks, Officers, and Messengers of the Legislative Council from serving on juries, and from Militia duty;""an act to provide for the appointment of a Librarian ;” "an act supplementary to "an act for the support and maintenance of illegitimate children ;" and, "an act to authorise the liceusing of victualling houses, ordinaries, and groceries, in the township of Green Bay;" and also, "a resolution relative to periodical publications ;" and the President signed the same.

On motion of Mr. Durocher, the Council then adjourned until Monday next.

MONDAY, June 16, 1828.

Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Richard.

Mr. Lawrence presented the petition of William Kedzie, aud others, inhabitants of the townships of Blissfield and Logan, in the county of Lenawe, praying for reasons set forth in said petition, that the site of the Court-flouse in said county, may be fixed in the village of Adrian-also, the proceedings of the inhabitants of said townships of Blissfield and Logan, at certain meetings held in relation to said object. Read and referred to the committee on Territorial Affairs.

Mr. Schoolcraft presented the memorial of Cole & Porter, and others, officers of the County Court of Wayne county, praying for the repeal of “ an act to adjourn and regulate the time of holding the County Court for the county of Wayne." Read and referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. M'Donell presented the petition of John Dix, and others, inhabitants of the county of Washtenaw, praying for the passage of an incorporate the Huron River Navigation Company, and for othe purposes. Read and laid on the table.

Mr. Lawrence, from the committee on the Judiciary, to whom had been referred "a bill to amend an act, ended "an act to provide compensation for Criers in the County Courts," and for other

purposes," reported the same wah an amendment; and said bill, with the amendment, was laid on the table.

Mr. l'Donell, from the committee on Territorial Affairs, reported,

"A bill to amend an act, entitled "an act to regulate blacks and mulattoes, and to punish the kidnapping of such persons;" which was read the first time; and, on motion, said bill was read the se cond time and laid on the table.

The bill to amend an act, entitled "an act to provide for the appointment, and to regulate the duties of District Attorneys," was taken up, the question being on its passage; and, on motion, the bill was again laid on the table.

The "bill in addition to, and amending an act, entitled "an act for the relief of lusolvent Debtors," was taken up in committee of the whole, and having been reported to the Council without amend ment;

Mr. Schoolcraft moved that said bill be engrossed and read a third time to-morrow; and the motion was agreed to.

The "bill to set off and organise the township of Chigome, in the county of Washtenaw," was taken up in committee of the whole, and again laid on the table.

The "bill to amend an aet, entitled "an act to regulate and de fine the powers of Justices of the Peace and Constables in civil cases, and for other purposes," was taken up in committee of the whole; and,

Mr. M'Donell moved that the bill be amended by striking out all after the enacting clause, and inserting certain sections in lieu of those stricken out,

On motion, said bill and the amendment, were then laid on the rable until Wednesday next.

On motion of Mr. M'Donell, the Council then adjourned.

Mr. Noble presented the memorial of S. A. Holbrook, and others, remonstrating against the removal of the site of the Court-Houso for the county of Lenawe, from the village of Tecumseh. Read andicferred to the committee on Territorial Affairs.

Mr. Drake presonted the petition of Ellis Doty, and others, inbas bitans of the City of Detroit, praying for certain alterations in the act incorporating said City. Said petition was read, and,

Mr. Drake moved that it be referred to a select committee com posed of three members; and the motion was agreed to.

Ir. Rumsey presented petitions from sundry inhabitants of the County of Washtenaw, praying for an act to incorporate a Company, to be called the Inroa River Navigation Company. On motion

said petitions together with a petition presented yesterday on the same subject, were referred to the committee on Territorial Affairs.

Mr. Irwin presented the memorial of sundry inhabitants of the County of Washtenaw, remonstrating against the objects prayed for In certain petitions from said county, in relation to the incorporation of the Huron River Navigation Company. Read and referred to the committee on Territorial Affairs.

Mr. Noble, from the committee on the Judiciary, to whom was yesterday referred the petition of sundry officers of the County Court of Wayne county, reported,

"A bill to repeal a certain act therein mentioned, and for other purposes," which was read the first time; and on motion, said bill was read the second time, and laid on the table.

Mr Irwin, from the committee on Territorial Affairs, reported, "A bill to provide for laying out certain Counties, and for other purposes," ," which was read the first time; and on motion, said bill was then read the second time and laid on the table.

Mr. M'Donell, from the same committee, reported,

"A bill to prevent private Lotteries," which was read the first time; and on motion, said bill was read the second time and laid on the table.

The "bill in addition to, and amending an act, entitled "an act For the relief of Insolvent Debtors," was taken up and read a third

time.

Mr. Stockton then moved that the bill be amended, by inserting, after the word "Court," in the 5th line of the 1st section, the following, viz:-" or to two Justices of the County Court;" and the motion was agreed to.

On motion of Mr. Irwin, the bill was then laid on the table. The "bill to provide for laying out certain Territorial Roads, and for other purposes," was taken up and read a third time.

Mr. M'Donell then moved that the bill be amended by inserting, after the word "at," in the 2d line of the 5th section, the following, viz" the City of Detroit, and running by"-and that the words, "and running from thence," commencing in said line, be stricken ont; and the motion was agreed to

Mr Stockton moved that the bill be further amended by inserting, after the word "to," in the 3d line of the 5th section, the following, viz: a point between Nathaniel Squires' and"--and the motion was agreed to.

Mr. Rumsey moved that the bill be further amended, by inserting, after the word "Tecumseh," in the 6th line of the 2d section, the words" and from thence to Adrian ;" and the motion was agreed

to.

On motion of Mr. Connor, the first blank in the 1st section of the bill was filled by inserting the name of "Francis Cicor."

On metion of Mr. Stockton, the second blank in said section wat filled by inserting the name of " Alexander Tacles."
