SPEAKER-Your committee on Municipal Corporations, to whom was referred House file No. 60, a bill for an act to amend section eight hundred and fifty-two (852) of the code, and authorizing an increase of the tax levy for park purposes, beg leave to report that they have had the same uuder consideration and have instructed me to report the same back to the House with the recommendation that the same do pass with the following amendments:

Strike out all of section one (1) after the word "mills," in the fourth line, and insert the following in lieu thereof:

That section eight hundred and fifty-two (852) be further amended by adding thereto the following words: "The said board is further authorized in its discretion to certify to the county auditor in the years 1900, 1901, 1902, and 1903, and cause to be collected, an additional tax for park purposes of one mill on the dollar on all taxable property of the city, in the manner provided by this scction as hereby amended, but the power to levy such additional one mill tax shall cease at the end of the four years above specified." SPEAKER-Your committee on Schools and Text Books, to whom was referred House file No. 105, a bill for an act to amend section two thousand, seven hundred and seventy-eight (2778) and section two thousand, seven hundred and eighty-five (2785), of chapter fourteen (14), title thirteen (13), of the code of Iowa, relative to employing school teachers in school townships, beg leave to report that they have had the same under consideration and have instructed me to report the same back to the House with the recommendation that the same do pass, with the following amendments:

By inserting the word "the," in line three (3) of title, between words "of" and "code."

By inserting the word "the," in the last line of section one (1), between the words "in" and "third.”

By inserting the word "the," in line two (2) of section two (2), between the words "of" and "code."

Also, that the following be added: "Section 3. This act, being deemed of immediate importance, shall be in force and effect on and after its publication in the Iowa State Register and the Des Moines Leader, newspapers published at Des Moines, Iowa."

Mr. Dows called up Senate concurrent resolution and asked that it be read.

Mr. Dows moved the adoption of the resolution.

Mr. Clarke of Dallas offered the following amendment to the resolution:

MR. SPEAKER-I move that Senate resolution in which the concurrence of the House is asked, relating to the election of State printer and binder and trustees of Agricultural college and regents for State university be amended by striking therefrom the words "State printer and binder."

At 11 o'clock, the special order being the consideration of Senate Joint resolution No. 3, it was called up.

Mr. Hawk moved that consideration of Joint resolution be deferred until Tuesday, February 6th, at 11 o'clock A. M.

Carried.

Consideration of the amendment offered by Mr. Clarke of Dallas, to the concurrent resolution, was continued.
