AN ACT allowing an additional compensation to the secretaries of the Mississippi, Indiana, Louisiana and Michigan territories.

E it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That

each of the secretaries of the Mississippi, Indiana, Louisiana and Michigan territo. ries, appointed under the authority of the United States, be entitled to the annual sum of one thousand dollars, in lieu of his present compensation, to commence on the first day of January next.

CHAPTER III.

AN ACT to change the name af the district of Bidde ford and Pepperelborough, in Massachusetts, to that of Saco.

E it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That the district, at present called the district of Biddeford and Pepperelborough, in Massachusetts, shall in future be called the district of Saco, and that the collector, of the said district, be permitted to reside in Saco or Biddeford, and that all the provisions of the several acts of Congress, that relate to

CHAPTER VI.

AN ACT to extend certain privileges as therein mentioned to Anthony Boucherie.

E it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That two years residence as required by an act, intituled "An act to extend the privilege of obtain ing patents for useful discoveries and inventions to certain persons therein mentioned, and to enlarge and define the penalties for violating the right of patentees," shall not be required of Anthony Boucherie, to enable him to obtain a patent for any discovery he has made in the art of manufacturing sugar, but that he shall obtain a patent therefor, on his conforming to the other requisitions of said act.
