[Instead of the above three, may be used the following.]

GOD, who hast commanded that no man should be idle, but that we should all work with our hands the things that is good: look graciously upon Thy servants now going forth to do their duty in that station of life, unto which Thou hast been pleased to call them. May Thy blessing be upon our persons, upon our labours, upon our substance, and upon all that belongs to us. Enable us to resist the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil; to follow the motions of Thy good Spirit; to be serious and holy in our lives; true and just in our dealings; watchful over our thoughts, words, and actions; diligent in our business, and temperate in all things. Give us grace, that we may honestly improve all the talents Thou hast committed to our trust; and that no worldly business, no worldly pleasures, may ever divert us from the thoughts of the life to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

V. THANKSGIVING.

MOST blessed and glorious Lord God, who art

of infinite goodness and mercy, we thy creatures whom thou hast made and preserved, holding our souls in life, humbly present ourselves before thy Divine Majesty, to offer unto thee our sacrifice of Praise and Thanksgiving. And, we beseech thee, give us such a sense of thy mercy, as may engage us to a true thankfulness, such as may appear in our lives by an humble, holy, and obedient walking before thee all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom with thee and the Holy Spirit, be all glory and honour, world without end. Amen.

Benediction.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with

your spirits. Amen.

Evening Prayer.

Confession.

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father, We

confess that we have this day sinned against Heaven and in Thy sight, And are no more worthy to be called Thy children: But do Thou pity, and cleanse, and forgive, and save us for Thy dear Son's sake. O remember not how little we have this day grown in grace, and in the knowledge of Thee; But give us this night true repentance, And hearty desires to serve Thee better all the rest of our lives, And strength to perform the same, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Absolution.

ALMIGHTY GOD, the Father of our Lord Jesus

Christ, pardoneth and absolveth all them that truly repent and unfeignedly believe his holy Gospel.

Answer. Thanks be to thee, O Lord, for this message of peace.

The Lord's Prayer.

Hallowed be

UR Father, which art in heaven, thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

M. O Lord, open thou our lips.

A. And our mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

Here all shall stand up.

Hymn of Praise.

and Lord of heaven and earth, the Preserver of all things, the Father of mercies: who so loved mankind as to send his only-begotten Son into the world to redeem us from sin and misery, and to obtain for us everlasting life. Accept, O gracious God, our praises and thanksgivings for Thine infinite mercies towards us, [especially . . . . .] and teach us, Lord, to love Thee more and serve Thee better; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I.-COLLECT FOR PEACE.

GOD, from whom all holy desires, all good coun

sels, and all just works do proceed; Give unto thy servants that peace which the world cannot give; that both our hearts may be set to obey thy commandments, and also that by thee we being defended from the fear of our enemies may pass our time in rest and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

II. INTERCESSION FOR THE FAMILY.

LORD, let it be Thy good pleasure to bless our parents, our brothers and sisters, all our relations, and all our friends. Lord, Thou knowest best all our wants and all our desires: do Thou therefore suit Thy graces and blessings to our several necessities of body and soul. We implore thy blessing also upon all the Members of this household, that all in their respective stations may labour to promote thy glory, and to adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. Hear us, O God, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
