III.

GRACIOUS God, we pray Thee to have mercy on all mankind: Bless we beseech Thee Thy holy Church; the Bishops, Priests, and Deacons, especially those who minister to us; the Queen, and all in authority; our relations, (the children of this family,) our friends and benefactors, the poor, the sick, (especially . . . . . . . . . ) the oppressed, and the dying; have mercy, Lord, on all, and grant us grace, each in our several stations, to serve Thee faithfully all the days of our life; through Jesus Amen.

Christ our Lord.

Instead of the above three, the following may be used for brevity.

LORD, lighten our blind and sinful hearts,

enabling them to understand Thy Word which we have this day read and heard; forgive for Christ's sake our infirmities, and grant that our prayers may ascend unto Thy holy tabernacle in heaven, there to be offered before Thy Divine Majesty, sprinkled with the Blood of Thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Benediction.

HE Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord

make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you. The Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon you, and give you peace, both now and evermore. Amen.

MONDAY MORNING.

THE DAY OF THE CREATION OF THE FIRMAMENT.

Morning Prayer.

Confession.

E humbly beseech Thee, O Heavenly Father,

WE

to do away as the night all our transgressions, And to scatter our sins as the morning cloud: Lord, forgive whatsoever Thou hast seen amiss in us during the past night, Wash us throughly from our wickedness and cleanse us from our sin, And let Thy Holy Spirit so prevent and accompany and follow us during the day on which we are now entering, That we may believe in Thee, and love Thee, and keep Thy commandments, and continue in Thy fear all the day long, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for Remission of Sins.

GOD, whose nature and property is ever to have mercy and to forgive, receive our humble petitions; and though we be tied and bound with the chain of our sins, yet let the pitifulness of thy great mercy loose us; for the honour of Jesus Christ, our Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

Prayer of Self-Dedication.

E offer and present unto Thee, O Lord, ourselves, our souls, and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy, and lively sacrifice unto Thee; humbly beseeching Thee that all we, who are here gathered together in the Name of Thy Son, may be fulfilled with Thy grace and heavenly benediction. And although we be unworthy, through our manifold sins, to offer unto Thee any sacrifice, yet we beseech thee to accept this our bounden duty and service; not weighing our merits, but pardoning our offences, through Jesus Christ our Lord; by whom, and with whom, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, all honour and glory be unto thee, O Father Almighty, world without end. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer.

Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

M.

O Lord, open Thou our lips.

A. And our mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
Here all shall stand up.

A Hymn of Praise.

M. Blessed art Thou, O Lord: who didst as on this day create the firmament of Heaven.

A. And didst divide the waters which were under the firmament: from the waters which were above the firmament.

M. It is Thou who hast spread out the sky: which is strong, and as a molten looking glass.

A. That stretchest out the heavens as a curtain: and spreadest them out as a tent to dwell in.

M. The heavens declare the glory of God: and the firmament sheweth His handy work.

A. One day telleth another: and one night certifieth another.

M. There is neither speech nor language: but their voices are heard among them.

A.

Their sound is gone out into all lands: and their words into the ends of the world.

M. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost.

A. As it was in the beginning, is now,

shall be

world without end.

Amen.

I.-COLLECT FOR PURITY.

GOD, whose blessed Son was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil, and make us the sons of God, and heirs of eternal life; Grant us, we beseech thee, that, having this hope, we may purify ourselves, even as he is pure; that, when he shall appear again with power and great glory, we may be made like unto him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where with thee, O Father, and thee, O Holy Ghost, he liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

II. COLLECT FOR GRACE.

LORD, we pray thee that thy grace may always

prevent and follow us, and make us continually to be given to all good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

III. COLLECT FOR PROTECTION.

GOD, who knowest us to be set in the midst

of so many and great dangers, that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot always stand upright; Grant to us such strength and protection, as may support us in all dangers, and carry us through all temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
