SUNDAY EVENING.

Evening Prayer.

Confession.

LORD, as we add days unto days, so we add sins

unto sins. O heavenly Father, we have this day sinned against Thee; In thought, word, and deed we have done amiss, And even in Thy House we have provoked Thee to anger. But have mercy upon us, O God, after thy great goodness, And according to the multitude of Thy mercies do away our offences. Forgive the wanderings of our thoughts, and the disorders of our hearts, And lay not to our charge every idle word. Grant that we may truly repent of our careless use this day of the means of grace; And so teach us to do Thy will, and incline our hearts to love Thee, That we may live this week, and the remainder of our lives, in Thy fear, and to the glory of Thy great Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Absolution.

A PRAYER FOR REMISSION OF SINS.

RANT, we beseech thee, merciful Lord, to thy faithful people pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve thee with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

OUR

The Lord's Prayer.

UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be

done in earth, As

it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil : For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

M. Lift up your hearts.

A.

We lift them up unto the Lord.

M. Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.

A.

It is meet and right so to do.

¶ Here all shall stand up.

A Hymn of Praise.

M. O Lord Jesu Christ, Brightness of the Glory

of the Father,

A.

The immortal, holy, heavenly, blessed One,

M. Having reached the setting of the sun, and beholding the star of the evening,

A. We praise the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit of God.

M. Worthy art Thou at every hour to be celebrated by holy lips,

A. O Son of God, Thou Prince of Life.

All together. Therefore the world doth glorify Thee.

Or,

M. The Lord is my light, and my salvation; whom then shall I fear: the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom then shall I be afraid?

A. When the wicked, even mine enemies, and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh: they stumbled and fell.

M. Though an host of men were laid against me, yet shall not my heart be afraid: and though there rose up war against me, yet will I put my trust in him.

A. One thing have I desired of the Lord, which I will require: even that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the fair beauty of the Lord, and to visit his temple.

M. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle: yea, in the secret place of his dwelling shall he hide me, and set me up upon a rock of stone.

A. And now shall he lift up mine head: above mine enemies round about me.

M. Therefore will I offer in his dwelling an oblation with great gladness: I will sing, and speak praises unto the Lord.

A. Hearken unto my voice, O Lord, when I unto thee: have mercy upon me, and hear me.

cry

M. My heart hath talked of thee, Seek ye my face Thy face, Lord, will I seek.

:

A. O hide not thou thy face from me: nor cast thy servant away in displeasure.

M. Thou hast been my succour: leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

A.

When my father and my mother forsake me : the Lord taketh me up.

M. Teach me thy way, O Lord and lead me in the right way, because of mine enemies.

A. Deliver me not over into the will of mine adversaries for there are false witnesses risen up against me, and such us speak wrong.

M. I should utterly have fainted: but that I believe verily to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

O tarry thou the Lord's leisure: be strong and he shall comfort thine heart; and put thou thy trust in the Lord.

M. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;

A. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end.

Amen.

Collects and Prayers.

(All kneeling, and the Person Officiating first saying, Let us pray)

I.

YRANT, we beseech thee, Almighty God, that the

G

words which we have heard this day with our outward ears, may through thy grace be so grafted inwardly in our hearts, that they may bring forth in us the fruit of good living, to the honour and praise of thy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A

II.

LMIGHTY God, who hast promised to hear the petitions of them that ask in thy Son's Name; We beseech thee mercifully to incline thine ears to us that have made now our prayers and supplications unto thee; and grant that those things which we have faithfully asked according to thy will, may effectually be obtained, to the relief of our necessity, and to the setting forth of thy glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
