Loving V. Virginia: Interracial Marriage

Richard Loving and Mildred Loving grew up together in Virginia, fell in love, and eventually married. The newlyweds were both arrested for committing a serious crime. Richard Loving was white. Mildred Loving was black. Marriage between people of different races was a crime in Virginia. This young couple made history as their case reversed decades of discriminatory law and allowed interracial marriage.
