And now, in conclusion, may I be permitted to voice the hope expressed by General Washington in 1789, that: "The most gracious Being, Who has hitherto watched over the interests and averted the perils of the United States, will never suffer so fair an inheritance to become a prey to anarchy."

The President: The first business in order is the report from the Committee on Admissions, J. Craig McLanahan, Chairman.

The Secretary: Mr. McLanahan is not present, but he is expected this afternoon and he has sent his report in the general form.
