IT-5748, 646 FOREWORD The Federal Power Act was originally enacted as the Federal Water Power Act, approved June 10, 1920 (41 Stat. 1063, 16 U. S. C. 791-823). The Federal Power Commission was reorganized January 1, 1931, as an independent Commission under the act approved June 23, 1930 (46 Stat. 797). By Title II of the Public Utility Act of 1935, approved August 26, 1935 (49 Stat. 838), the original Federal Water Power Act was made Part I of the "Federal Power Act" and Parts II and III were added to that act. The Commission also administers the Natural Gas Act, approved June 21, 1938 (52 Stat. 821, 15 U. S. C. 717-717W), and has certain duties under the Tennessee Valley Authority Act, approved May 18, 1933 (48 Stat. 1075), and amendments thereto; the Bonneville Act, approved August 20, 1937 (50 Stat. 731), and other statutes, as well as under Executive Orders and Presidential directives. This volume, the third of a series, contains all of the formal opinions and accompanying orders of the Federal Power Commission rendered January 1, 1942 to September 30, 1943 inclusive. In addition to the formal opinions, there have been included in an Appendix certain orders of the Commission selected as being in the nature of opinions. XLVII |
