The Secretary of State, to whom was referred the resolution of the Senate of the 7th instant, requesting the President, if in his opinion not incompatible with the public interest, to communicate to that body, in executive session, "copies of the correspondence and documents connected with the treaty concluded at London, between the United States and Great Britain, on the 7th [17th] day of October, 1856, and communicated to the Senate with his message of the 10th of December, 1856," has the honor to lay before the President the accompanying papers.
