ONCE again, after a lapse of two years, we have to preface a wise and goodly Volume for the delighted Readers of THE MEDLEY. Not that a Preface is in any degree more needed now than when we last addressed them from our editorial chair. But, Prefaces are all the rage just at present. SNARL, the Critic, has just sent forth a volume of his collected slaughterings from the pages of the Monthly Growler, with a Preface savage enough to give any young lady the brow-ague for a month. TUPPER, in his 140th Edition of "Lays and Lyrics for Lunatics," just out, has again proved to an incredulous public that he is the Poet of the age; Mr. BUCKLE, in mighty Quarto, gives us by way of Preface a Catalogue of the Bodleian Library, and the little one in Museum Street. PUNCH invariably addresses his readers in a pithy Preface on the birth of each new volume, and THACKERAY and DICKENS follow his erudite example.
