No. 50, Strand,

Having invented, perfected, and obtained the King's Patent for a System of Curing Diseases which had been, previously, deemed incurable, informs the Public that the objects of his attention are, first; Distortion in the Spine, the effects of which may be, certainly, either removed or concealed from observation; and secondly, Distortions in the Legs and Feet of Children and others.

Convincing proofs that these Diseases may be effectually cured in Patients who have attained to the age of twenty-five years and upwards, will be found in his PRACTICAL ESSAY on DISTORTIONS, &c. &c. with an Appendix containing Sixty-two Cases that have been successfully treated, &c, which may be had at his House, No. 50, Strand.

Mr. S. has likewise devoted much attention to the construction and adaptation of Trusses to various kinds of Ruptures, and has for m ry years applied different Trusses, to appropriate cases, which have been of late recommended by ignorant workmen, as their own in vention, and foolishly offered for sale as Specific Remedies in all cases; upon this subject he begs to refer to the second Edition of his Useful Hints to those who are afflicted with Ruptures, on the Nature, Cure, and Consequences of the Diseases, and on the Empirical Practices of the pres nt day.

As many anomalous Diseases require the assistance of mechanical inventions, to cure, or to alleviate them, and as many articles called Braces, Collars, &c. &c. are in general use, from an opinion that they will certainly remedy defects in the shapes of children, when in fact, much mischief is frequently done by the improper use of them. Mr. S. begs to say that every article of that kind may be had at his house, constructed in the most rational manner, with the best information respecting their use.

Attendance at home every morning until Eleven o'clock.

N. B. As another person of the same name, who lives in the neighbourhood, has been frequently mistaken for Mr. T. Sheldrake; thus mistakes and serious disappointments occasioned to many, it is necessary that particular attention should be paid to the address, the person alluded to being quite unconnected with Mr. S. and totally ignorant of the particular method of treating the diseases which are the subjects of Mr. T. The recent dissolution of Parliament, and the peculiar circumstances under which the new one may be supposed to meet, cannot fail to render this Work acceptable to the Statesman, the Politician, and the Public at large.

The kind communica ious of the Officers, during Mr. Devis's stay on board the Victory, on her passage from St. Helen's to the Downs, have enabled him to describe the melancholy event, with the utmost fidelity, and with historic truth.
