(II) [EDITOR'S NOTE.-At the conclusion of markup sessions that followed these hearings, the Subcommittee on the Environment on November 12, 1973, ordered an amended bill reported to the full committee. At approximately the same time, the Committee on Merchant Marine and Fisheries completed its markup of a somewhat similar bill, H.R. 11951, and since it embodied provisions acceptable to the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs, no further action was taken with respect to the bill reported by the subcommittee. [The Committee on Public Works also reported out a deepwater ports bill, H.R. 10701, which passed the House of Representatives on June 6, 1974. However, by floor amendment the text of the Merchant Marine and Fisheries bill, H.R. 11951 was substituted for the original text of the Public Works measure.] (III) |
