JULY 25-MORNING SESSION

Presiding: MARTIN P. CATHERWOOD, Industrial Commissioner, New York Department of Labor

The first session of the 49th Annual Convention of the International Association of Governmental Labor Officials convened at 9:15 a.m. in the Century Room of the Monteleone Hotel, New Orleans, La., with President Martin P. Catherwood presiding.

After some brief preliminary announcements, President Catherwood called upon Dr. G. Avery Lee, Minister of St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church, to pronounce the invocation.

The President then introduced host Commissioner Curtis C. Luttrell, who, acting on behalf of Governor John McKeithen, bestowed the title of "Colonel" upon Mr. Catherwood.

Commissioner Luttrell then introduced Mr. James A. Morro, Councilman of the city of New Orleans, representing the Honorable Victor Schiro, Mayor of New Orleans; Mr. G. D. Henderson, President of the Louisiana State Chamber of Commerce; and the Honorable A. P. Stoddard, Vice President of the Louisiana AFL-CIO, representing President Victor Bussie.

Following an announcement regarding activities scheduled for the ladies during the convention, President Catherwood introduced the new labor commissioners and special guests attending the session.
