OME, Holy Ghost, our fouls inspire,

And lighten with celeftial fire;

Thou the anointing Spirit art,

Who doft thy fevenfold gifts impart:

Thy bleffed unction from above
Is comfort, life, and fire of love;
Enable with perpetual light

The dulnefs of our blinded fight:

Anoint and cheer our foiled face
With the abundance of thy grace:
Keep far our foes, give peace at home;
Where Thou art guide no ill can come.
Teach us to know the Father, Son,
And Thee, of Both, to be but One;
That through the ages all along
This may be our endless fong,

Praise to thy eternal merit,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Then let him fay,

I will go unto the altar of God.

Pfalm xliii.

Give sentence with me, O God, and defend my cause against the ungodly people: O deliver me from the deceitful and wicked man.

For Thou art the God of my strength, why haft Thou put me from Thee and why go I so heavily, while the enemy oppresseth me?

:

Ofend out thy light and thy truth, that they may lead me : and bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy dwelling.

And that I may go unto the altar of God, even unto the God of my joy and gladness and upon the harp will I give thanks unto Thee, O God, my God.

Why art thou fo heavy, O my foul and why art thou fo difquieted within me?

O put thy trust in God: for I will yet give Him thanks, which is the help of my countenance, and my God.

Glory be, &c. As it was, &c.

At a High Mafs, here let the Priest kifs the Deacon and afterwards the Subdeacon, faying,

Receive the kifs of peace and love that ye may be fit to perform divine offices at the most holy Altar.

Then let the Priest go up to the Altar and, ftanding in the midft, fay filently with inclined body and joined hands,

Let us pray.

Take away from us, we beseech Thee O Lord, all our iniquities, that we may be worthy to enter into the Holy of Holies with pure minds, through Christ our Lord, (he kiffes the Altar and croffes himself, faying :) in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

At a High Mafs the Priest will here receive the book of the Gospels from the Sub-deacon on his left, will open it, kifs it, and return it to the Subdeacon.

The Prieft alone fays,

UR Father which art in heaven,

thy Name. Thy kingdom come.

Hallowed be

Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trefpaffes, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. Amen.

A

The Collect.

LMIGHTY God, unto whom all hearts be open, all defires known, and from whom no fecrets are hid; Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love Thee, and worthily magnify thy holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

¶Then fhall the Priest, turning to the people [with joined hands], rehearse diftinctly all the Ten Commandments.

G

Minifter.

OD spake these words, and faid; I am the Lord thy God: Thou fhalt have none other gods but Me. People. Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Minifter. Thou shalt not make to thyfelf any graven image, nor the likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down to them, nor worship them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, and visit the fins of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me, and, fhew mercy unto thousands in them that love Me, and keep my commandments.

People. Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Minifter. Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless, that taketh his Name in vain.

People. Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Minifter. Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbathday. Six days fhalt thou labour, and do all that thou haft to do; but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. In it thou fhalt do no manner of work, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, thy cattle, and the stranger that is within thy gates. For in fix days the Lord made heaven and earth, the fea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the feventh day, and hallowed it.

People. Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Minifter. Honour thy father and thy mother; that thy days may be long in the land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

People. Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Minifter. Thou fhalt do no murder.
