Mr. McKim presented a memorial of William Willson and sons, of Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, praying to be reimbursed certain duties paid upon merchandise, exacted by the operation of the tariff law of 1828.

Mr. McKim presented a memorial of Frederick C. Graff, of Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, praying relief, in relation to certain duties exacted of him by the operations of the tariff law of 1828.

Mr. Pinckney presented a petition of James Robertson, of the State of South Carolina, praying to be refunded certain duties exacted of him by the operation of the tariff law of 1832.

Mr. Chilton Allen presented a petition of the Lexington and Ohio Rail-road Company, praying to be reimbursed certain duties paid upon rail-road iron, upon the assurance that the said iron shall be used for the purpose of making rail-roads.

Ordered, That the said petitions and memorials be severally referred to the Committee of Ways and Means.

Mr. Kinnard presented a petition of sundry inhabitants of the State of Indiana, in behalf of Christian Shell, praying remuneration for his hogs, which have been destroyed by the Indians.

Mr. Reynolds, of Illinois, presented a petition of Robert Morrison, of Kaskaskia, praying to be remunerated for horses stolen by the Indians.

Mr. Reynolds, of Illinois, presented sundry documents from the heirs or legal representatives of Joseph Rock, alias Jarott, deceased, relative to a claim in favor of the said Rock, alias Jarott, for pork, flour, and tobacco, destroyed by the Indians in the year 1812.

Mr. Lyon presented sundry documents relating to the claim of John Phillips, as administrator of W. Walker and J. Phillips, for property destroyed by the Creek Indians during the late war.

Mr. Lyon presented the petition of Allen Yates, of the State of Alabama, praying a confirmation of title to a certain reservation of land.

Mr. Lyon presented the petition of William B. Trotter, praying indemnity for losses sustained on a contract to supply rations to a party of emigrating Choctaw Indians.

Mr. Ashley presented a petition of Davis Todd, of the county of Howard, in the State of Missouri, praying remuneration for depredations committed upon his property by the Indians.

Mr. Albert G. Harrison presented a petition of William Monroe and Joseph Wolfskill, of the State of Missouri, praying remuneration for property destroyed at the Boonslick settlement during the last war, by the Sac and Fox Indians.

Mr. Albert G. Harrison presented a letter from Joshua Bilcher, of the State of Missouri, praying to be reimbursed the amount of a salary paid by him, as Indian agent, to an interpreter, over and above the salary allowed by law, the same being $180.

Mr. Albert G. Harrison presented the memorial of sundry citizens of Clay county, in the State of Missouri, praying for the establishment of military posts on the western frontier of the State of Missouri.

Mr. Hunt presented the petition of John E. Wool, brigadier general, and inspector general of the United States Army, praying for an allowance of back rations.

Mr. Ward presented the petition of sundry officers of the United States Army, detailed for duty in the military bureaus of the War Department, praying for additional compensation.

Mr. Speaker presented the memorial of sundry officers of the Army of the United States, praying for their pay upon the principles adopted for the regulation of the navy.

Mr. Kinnard presented the petition of David H. Maxwell, of the State of Indiana, praying compensation for medical services rendered to a company of United States rangers, during the years 1813 and 1814.

Ordered, That the said several petitions and memorials be referred to the Committee on Military Affairs.

On motion of Mr. Thomson, of Ohio,

Ordered, That the report of the Committee on Military Affairs, made on the 23d January, 1835, upon the subject of "the messages of the President of the United States of the 19th of February, 1831, and the 20th of January, 1832, recommending that provision be made by Congress to carry into effect a compromise of the title of the claimants of the island in the river Delaware, called the Pea Patch,' on which Fort Delaware is constructed," and to which Henry Gale, many years since, claimed title, be again referred to the Committee on Military Affairs.

Mr. Lansing presented the petition of Sabra Backus, widow of the late Colonel Electus Backus, who was killed at the battle of Sacketts Harbor during the last war, praying for a pension on account of the services of her husband.

Mr. Harrison, of Pennsylvania, presented the petition of Henry Keefer, of the State of Pennsylvania, a soldier in the last war, and also the petition of sundry inhabitants of said State in his behalf, praying for a pension.

Mr. Beale presented a petition of John Smith, of Virginia, praying pecuniary aid for services rendered during the last war.

Mr. Claiborne presented a petition of Hiram Saul, of the State of Virginia, a soldier of the last war, praying for a pension.

Mr. Lane presented a petition of Francis Bashford, of Ohio, who was disabled while in the service of the United States, and praying that his name may be enrolled upon the invalid pension list.

Mr. McLene presented a petition of Philip Coleman, of Ohio, who was wounded while in the service of his country, at the battle of Fort Meigs, praying for a pension.

Mr. McCarty presented a petition of George K. Cooke, and also the petition of sundry citizens of the State of Indiana, in behalf of George K. Cooke, a soldier in the last war, praying for a pension,

Mr. Cushman presented a petition of Samuel Kincaid, of New Hampshire, a soldier in the last war, praying for a pension.

Mr. Evans presented a petition of Elijah Hall, of Maine, a soldier in the last war, praying for a pension.

Mr. Evans presented a petition of William Poole, a soldier in the last war, praying for a pension.

Mr. Evans presented a petition of Abraham Pettingill, of the State of Maine, a soldier in the last war, praying for a pension.

Mr. Speaker presented a memorial of John Charles Frederick Salomon, of the State of Pennsylvania, in relation to a patent safety steam boiler invented and patented by him.

Mr. Wise presented a petition of the sailingmasters of the Navy, praying for an increase of pay.

Mr. Beale presented a petition of Philip Rupel, praying for an appropriation to enable him to make experiments for the purpose of proving his recently rediscovered submarine or Greek fire.

Mr. McKim presented a memorial of Anthony Faulac, of the city of Baltimore, relative to an adjustment and payment of his account, computed at the rate of thirty dollars per day, for a detention of the ship "General Smith," chartered by him to the Commissioners of the Navy in 1833, for transporting a cargo of provisions to Valparaiso or Lima.

Mr. Pearce, of Maryland, presented a petition of Samuel Hambleton, a purser in the Navy of the United States, praying for arrearages of pension. Mr. McKim presented a petition of Louisa Sherburne, of the city of Baltimore, widow of Jonathan W. Sherburne, deceased, praying for a pension from the time of the death of her husband up to 1833.

Mr. Beardsley presented the petition of Melancthon T. Woolsey, a captain in the United States Navy, praying to be exempted from the payment of certain claims held by the United States against him.
