Mr. Dutee J. Pearce presented the petition of Michael Quin, of the State of Rhode Island, praying relief in relation to injury sustained in blasting rocks for the erection of fortifications in the harbor of Newport.

Mr. Heman Allen presented the petition of Amos Mansfield, jr. of the State of Vermont, a soldier in the last war, praying for a pension.

Mr. Johnson, of Kentucky, presented the petition of C. A. Collier, of the State of Kentucky, praying for a pension, on account of an injury received while in the service of the United States during the late war.

Mr. Owens presented the petition of Thomas Paine, of the United States Navy, praying for the passage of an act granting him a pension from the 7th of October, 1814, to the 7th of February, 1834,

Mr. Ingersoll presented a petition of S. Morris Waln, of the city of Philadelphia, praying relief in relation to certain losses by fire in said city. Mr. Ingersoll presented a petition of John F. Lewis, merchant, of the city of Philadelphia, praying relief from an increase of duty on certain Canton goods occasioned by the late alteration of the tariff law.

Mr. Owens presented a pétition of the President, Directors and Company of the Steam-boat Company of Georgia," praying for the privilege of importing two iron steam-boats into the United States, free of duty!" A Ordered, That the said petition be referred to the Committee of Ways and Means.

Mr. Weeks presented the petition of Nathaniel Gunniston, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, owner and master of the schooner Fanny, in the year 1803, praying that a fisherman's bounty may be granted him.

Mr. Adams presented the petition of sundry inhabitants of the Territory of Michigan, praying for the speedy construction of a harbor at the mouth of St. Joseph's, in the Michigan Territory.

Mr. Jarvis presented a petition for the same purpose from other inhabitants of Michigan.

Mr. Philips presented the petition of Ebenezer Phillips and others, of the State of Massachusetts, praying for an allowance of bounty on a fishing vessel duly fitted out and lost at sea.

Mr. Lawrence presented the petition of the public appraisers for the port of Boston, praying for an additional compensation for their services.

Mr. Judson presented the petition of sundry citizens of the State of Connecticut, praying that the city of Norwich be made a port of entry.

Mr. Lansing presented the petition of sundry masters and owners of vessels navigating the Hudson river, praying for the erection of a lighthouse at a place called Esopus Meadows, and the placing of a buoy on the wreck of a vessel sunk in Tappan bay.

Mr. Ashley presented the memorial of the Legislature of the State of Missouri, relative to the establishment of hospitals on the western waters. Mr. Ashley also presented a memorial of the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, relative to the trade between that State and the Republic of Mexico.

Mr. Sevier presented the memorial of the General Assembly of the Territory of Arkansas, relative to an appropriation for the building of a hospital near the mouth of White river, on the Mississippi.

Mr. Joseph M. White submitted sundry documents relative to a lighthouse on South Cape, in Florida.

Ordered, That the said petition and memorials be referred to the Committee on Commerce.
