Mr. Reed presented the memorial of sundry inhabitants of New Bedford, in the State of Massachusetts, praying for a further appropriation for the purpose of carrying into effect the law of last session, providing for the erection of beacons and placing buoys in Buzzard's bay, and other places. Mr. Ingham presented the memorial of sundry inhabitants of the State of Connecticut, praying for an appropriation for the erection of spindles on certain rocks in the harbor of Killingsworth, in said State.

Mr. Judson presented the petition of William Judson, of the town of New London, in the State of Connecticut, praying to be indemnified against the loss he sustained in building the custom-house at the port of New London.

Mr. Judson presented a petition of the selectmen, mayor and aldermen of Norwich, in the State of Connecticut, praying that the city of Norwich may be made a port of entry.

Mr. Phillips presented a petition of sundry inhabitants of Manchester and Essex, in the State of Massachusetts, praying for an appropriation for the purpose of removing an obstruction at the entrance of the Manchester harbor.

Mr. Wardwell presented a petition of sundry inhabitants of the State of New York, praying for an appropriation for the improvement of the mouth of Big Sandy creek, emptying into Mexico bay, at the lower end of Lake Ontario, in said State.

Mr. Turrill presented a petition of sundry inhabitants of the Territory of Michigan, praying for an appropriation for the speedy construction of a harbor at the mouth of the river St. Joseph.

Mr. Johnson, of Kentucky, presented a like petition from sundry other inhabitants of Michigan.

Mr. Chapin presented a like petition from sundry other inhabitants of Michigan.

Mr. Turrill presented three several petitions of sundry inhabitants of the county of Niagara, in the State of New York, praying for an appropriation for the improvement of the harbor at the mouth of Eighteeninile creek, in said county.

Mr. Lay presented a memorial of sundry inhabitants residing near the navigable waters of the great western lakes, relative to the construction of works at the eastern termination of Lake Erie, for the security of shipping engaged in the commerce of those lakes.

Mr. Huntington presented a petition of sundry inhabitants of Sag Harbor, in the State of New York, praying for the erection of a light-house on Cedar island, and for the placing of buoys at sundry places therein mentioned.

Mr. Hazeltine presented a petition of sundry inhabitants of the county of Chautauque, in the State of New York, praying for an appropriation for the erection of a pier at the harbor of Van Buren, on Lake Erie, in said State.

Mr. Hazeltine presented a petition of sundry inhabitants of the county of Chautauque, in the State of New York, praying for a survey of the harbor of Van Buren, on Lake Erie.

Mr. Evans presented a petition of T. R. Theobald, of the State of Maine, praying for the remission of a fine imposed by the collector at New Orleans in November last, in consequence of his neglect to take a manifest of the cargo of the brig Euphrates.

Mr. Evans presented a petition of Benjamin T. Stone, of the State of Maine, praying for the remission of a fine imposed in consequence of his neglect to take a manifest of his cargo, when bound to New Orleans.

Mr. Jarvis presented a petition of sundry inhabitants of the State of Maine, praying for the erection of light-houses in Penobscot bay, in said State.

Mr. Jarvis presented a petition of sundry inhabitants of the State of Maine, praying for the erection of a light-house near the mouth of Pleasant river, in said State.

Mr. Smith presented a petition of sundry inhabitants, shipmasters, merchants, and others, of Portland, in the State of Maine, praying for an appropriation for the establishment of a marine hospital at that place.

Mr. Fairfield presented a petition of sundry inhabitants of the State of Maine, praying for a further appropriation for the improvement of Wells harbor, in said State.

Mr. Thomas presented a petition of John Harry, late of Washington county, in the State of Maryland, praying that the proceeds arising from the sale of certain lands, sold by Government as the property of Thomas B. Hall, may be granted to him in payment of a demand due to him from said Hall.

Mr. Pinckney presented a petition of Polly Lining, executrix of Charles Lining, surviving executor of Edward Blake, deceased, praying that satisfaction may be entered on a certain judgment therein mentioned, the repayment of the amount ascertained to be due from the United States to said Blake, late superintendent of the light-houses for the port of Charleston. Ordered, That the said petitions be referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.
