It is a federation of 1209 co-operative consumers' societies, having a membership of 3,500,000 families. In 1922, it distributed over £65,000,000 worth of goods, and its banking department had a turnover of £500,000,000. It conducts 116 different manufacturing industries, and has lands and purchasing offices in all parts of the world. It is owned and administered by the members of the co-operative societies which it serves.
