POSTSCRIPT.

IT is earnestly recommended to those who worship God in their families, that they read a portion of scripture, though ever so short, before prayer. It would be well also if they would, frequently at least, (and especially on the Lord's Day) sing a few verses of a psalm or hymn. This would be very engaging to the younger branches of families, who by this means, would become proficients in the art of psalmody, and thus be trained up to join with advantage in the public praises of the church, for which too many, in our congregations, are sadly unqualified. It is greatly to the reproach of most of our schools, that, while every other agreeable accomplishment is cultivated, the divine art of singing the praises of God is lected; in consequence of which the beauty and pleasure of social worship are greatly diminished.
