CHAPTER 259.

Joint Resolution authorizing M. M. Potter to draw the mileage and per diem of the Hon. Richard Bache; Senator from Galveston, deceased.

Section 1. Be it resolved by the Legislature of the State of Texas, That M. M. Potter be, and he is hereby authorized to draw the mileage and per diem pay of Hon, Richard Bache, deceased, for his services during the second session of the State Legislature, and that the accounting officer of the Treasury Department audit the same, and that this act be in force from and after its passage. Approved, March 20, 1848.

CHAPTER 260.

Joint Resolution granting leave of absence to James B. Shaw, Comptroller of Public Accounts.

Section 1. Be it resolved by the Legislature of the State of Texas, That James B. Shaw, Comptroller of Public Accounts, be allowed leave of absence for the term of six weeks from his office during the year 1848, and that this Joint Resolution take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 261.

An Act supplementary to an act to incorporate the town of Refugio.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas, That all persons residing within the limits of the town

tract of Refugio who are entitled to vote for members of the Legislature under the Constitution and laws of this State shall be deemed qualified electors and shall be permitted to vote for Mayor, Alderman, or any other officer created under said act of incorporation to which this is a supplement.

Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That all property belonging to said town tract of Refugio which shall hereafter be offered for sale by said corporate authorities shall be sold at public auction, after giving notice of said sale by publishing the same in the nearest newspaper for at least sixty days previous to the sale of said property, and provided that not more than one fourth of said town lots and one fourth of said farm lots shall be sold during any one year. Sec. 3. Be it further enacted, That all sales of property belonging to said town tract of Refugio which sale hereafter be made contrary to the provisions of this act shall be void.

Sec. 4. Be it further enacted, That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

And I further certify, that the Acts and Joint Resolutions contained in this Part and Volume, are true copies of the original rolls deposited in the Department of State, with which they have been carefully compared.
