SIR: Having failed in procuring on bottomry, or otherwise, the necessary funds required to repair the under my command, I desire to notify you that I am, consequently, compelled to order the sale of said vessel, without delay, by public auction, as also that part of her cargo found damaged by the surveyors thereof, and recommended to be sold immediately; thus, in my opinion, best consulting the interests of all concerned.

I inclose here with a duplicate of my letter addressed to licensed auctioneer, to be filed in the Consulate. Very respectfully, &c.,
