The Journal of Proceedings of the preceding day was read, corrected and approved.

REPORTS OF SELECT COMMITTEES.

The following report was presented:

On items 1 and 1A, Commission of Public Lands, H. B. No. 3, by the Committee on Finance, entitled "An Act making special appropriations for the Departmental use of the Lerritory during the two years, which will end with the Thirtieth day of June, A. D. 1903," from Mr. Makekau, Chairman of the Select Committee to whom they had been referred, recommending that the items pass to read as follows:

1. Incidentals, including land patent books, etc.,. $ 5,250 00 IA. Preliminary Roads and Trails..

Mr. Faele moved to adopt the report. Mr. Dickey moved that consideration of the report be postponed until the Bill should come up for further consideration. Seconded by Mr. Emmeluth. The motion to postpone consideration was lost. Whereupon the motion to adopt carried, and the items were made to read accordingly.

RESOLUTIONS.

The following resolution was introduced:

H. R. No. 27, by Mr. Ahulii, asking for an appropriation of $40,000 for the installation of an electric light system in Wailuku, Maui. Referred to the Select Committee on appropriations for the Third District.

BILLS ON FIRST READING.

The following Bill, notice of which had previously been given was introduced:

H. B. No. 4, by Mr. Makekau, entitled "An Act to appropriate money for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the

extra session of the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii of the year 1901 from the public treasury." On motion of Mr. Makekau, the Bill was read by title. On motion of Mr. Emmeluth, the Bill was read through. On motion of Mr. Makekau, the Bill passed first reading.

BILLS ON SECOND READING.

By unanimous consent, the House thereupon resolved itself into the Committee of the Whole for the further consideration of the following Bill upon its second reading:

H. B. No. 3, by the Committee on Finance, entitled "An Act making special appropriations for the Departmental use of the Territory during the two years, which will end with the Thirtieth day of June, A. D. 1903.”

Immediately upon arising, the Committee of the Whole, through its Chairman, Mr. Dickey, reported progress, and asked for leave to sit again. The report was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Makekau, the House thereupon adjourned.
