RESOLUTIONS.

Under a suspension of the rules, the following Resolution was introduced:

RESOLUTIONS.

The following Resolutions were introduced:

H. R. No. 19, by Mr. Kawaihoa, asking for an appropriation of $1,500 for the erection of a Court House and Station House at Pukoo, Molokai. Consideration postponed, to be taken up with the Appropriation Bill for current expenses when it should be introduced.

H. R. No. 20, by Mr. Kawaihoa, asking for an appropriation of $5,000 for road from Kalae to Puuohoku, Molokai. Consideration postponed, to be taken up with the Current Expense Appropriation Bill when it should be introduced.

and, on motion of Mr. Dickey, the report of the Seleer Committee appointed to investigate the items under this head was read. The report recommended that the items pass as in the Bill. Mr. Dickey moved that the items pass as read. Mr. Kaniho moved that the item be amended by striking out the figures ❝6,000" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "5,400". The motion to amend carried.

Consideration of the following Bill, upon its third reading, was resumed:

D. 1903," together with the report of the Select Committee on the items in the Bill under the head of "Survey Department".

and, on motion of Mr. Kaniho, was amended by striking out the figures "5,400" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "4,800". Whereupon the item passed as amended.

The following item was read:

3. Salary of First Assistant .. .

Mr. Kaniho moved to amend by striking out the figures “4,800" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "4,200". Mr. Emmeluth moved that the items in the Bill under the head of "Survey Department" be recommitted with instructions to investigate how much of the amount asked for by the Governor under the head of "Incidentals" in his Estimates submitted to the Legislature was to be paid in addition to salaries to persons on the regular Pay Rolls. The motion to recommit was seconded Ly Mr. Prendergast. Mr. Kaniho moved the previous question. which was thereupon ordered. The motion to recommit was lost. The motion to amend carried. Whereupon the item passed as amended.

$ 2.880 00 by striking out the figures "1,800" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "3,600".

Mr. Emmeluth stated that he had a letter bearing upon the subject of pay for Court Officers on Hawaii, which he thought would be interesting to the House. At the suggestion of Mr. Monsarrat, there being no objection, the Clerk read a letter addressed to Mr. Emmeluth, signed by Hon. Gilbert F. Little, Fourth Circuit Judge. During the reading of the letter, Mr. Makekau objected to its being read through. On motion of Mr. Kaniho, seconded by Mr. Dickey, the letter was then ordered read through. After the letter had been read, Mr. Monsarrat moved that the letter be spread upon the Journal. Seeonded by Mr. Beckley. Mr. Dickey moved that the letter be returned to the gentleman to whom it was addressed. Seconded by Mr. Prendergast. The motion to spread the letter upon the
