To the Honorable Speaker and House of Representatives, Territory of Hawaii: I have the honor to transmit herewith Senate Bill No. 62, which passed its third reading in the Senate this first day of May, I have the honor to inform you that the Senate has this day concurred in the amendments of the House of Representatives to Senate Bill No. 14. I have the honor to transmit herewith House Bill No. 52, the final passage of which, on its third reading, was defeated by a vote of: Ayes---7; Noes--1; Absent---7. The following Resolution was taken up for consideration: Be It Resolved by the Senate, and the House of Representatives concurring, that a Committee of two, consisting of one Senator, to be appointed by the President of the Senate, and one Representative, to be appointed by the Speaker, to wait on the Governor and inform him that the Legislature has no further business to submit to him. On motion of Mr. Mossman, seconded by Mr. Paele, the Resolution was adopted, whereupon the Speaker appointed Mr. Prendergast as a member on behalf of the House of such Joint Committee. Mr. Prendergast moved that the Clerk of the House be instructed to attend to the unfinished business of the House, and that he be given twenty days within which to complete such work, for which services he should receive the same salary per diem as during the Session. The motion was seconded by Mr. Kaniho and adopted. The Journal of Proceedings of the morning and afternoon Sessions of this day were read and approved. Mr. Emmeluth, as Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary, wished to express the thanks of that Committee to Mr. Robertson, the minority member, for his able and conscientious work thereon. Mr. Prendergast rose to express the appreciation of the members at large of the work of the Committee on Public Lands and Internal Improvements. Mr. Kaniho gave expression to the thanks of the members of the House to the Speaker and Vice Speaker for the manner in which they had conducted the proceedings of the House. The Speaker replied on behalf of himself and the Vice Speaker. On motion of Mr. Prendergast, the House thereupon stood in recess, subject to the call of the Speaker. JOINT SESSION. Hall of the House of Representatives, Honolulu, T. H., May 1st, 1901. The Joint Session of the Senate and House of Representatives of the Territory of Hawaii reconvened at 11:40 o'clock p. m. Honorable Mr. President of the Senate presiding. The Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate reported that he had prevailed upon Mr. Kanuha, of the Senate, to return, but that Mr. Russel, of the Senate, defied his authority, and threatened to shoot him if he used force. On motion of Mr. Emmeluth, of the House, seconded by Mr. J. Brown, of the Senate, the Joint Session of the Senate and House of Representatives of the Territory for the purpose of apportioning eight Senators to serve for the term of four years thereupon adjourned sine die. The House reconvened at 11:50 o'clock p. m. Mr. Speaker in the Chair. Mr. Emmeluth moved that the House do now stand adjourned without day. Seconded by Mr. Mossman. At the suggestion of Mr. Beckley, the Chaplain offered a final prayer, during which exercise, at the suggestion of Mr. Haaheo, the members rose and remained standing. Mr. Emmeluth thereupon renewed his motion that the House do now adjourn sine die, which was carried.
