The following Bills came up for consideration, were read by title, passed first reading, and were ordered referred to the Committee on Enrollment, Revision and Printing to obtain printed copies for the use of the House:

S. B. No. 21, by Mr. C. Brown, entitled "An Act to amend Section 246 of the Penal Laws, relating to criminal conduct of an officer in regard to prisoners in his custody or committed thereto."

S. B. No. 7, by Mr. C. Brown, entitled "An Act to amend Section 85 of the Penal Laws, relating to the concealment of the death of a newly born child."

S. B. No. 17, by Mr. C. Brown, entitled "An Act to amend Section 986 of the Penal Laws, relating to the protection of the places of sepulture."

S. B. No. 23, by Mr. C. Brown, entitled "An Act to amend Section 215 of the Penal Laws, relating to the illegal marking of live stock."

S. B. No. 59, by Mr. Kanuha, entitled "An Act to provide for and to regulate the sending of the American youths to the United States to be educated.”

S. B. No. 56, by Mr. J. Brown, entitled "An Act to amend Sections 54 and 55 of 'An Act to reorganize the Judiciary Department,' approved the 25th day of November, 1892, being Chapter LVII of the Session Laws of 1892."

S. B. No. 76, by Mr. Kanuha, entitled "An Act making temporary appropriation for the use of the Board of Health."

REPORTS OF SELECT COMMITTEES.

The following report of Select Committee was presented: Mr. Beckley, Chairman of Select Committee to invite the Congressmen and Judges of the Philippine United States Courts

to address the House at 10 o'clock this morning, reported that all of the party but one, who had a previous engagement, had accepted the invitation and would be present at the appointed hour.

On motion of Mr. Kekaula, the House thereupon stood in recess, subject to the call of the Speaker.

The House reconvened at 10:15 o'clock, whereupon H. R. No. 105, by Mr. Beckley, relating to the visit of Congressmen and Judges of the Supreme Court and Court of First Instance of the Philippines, was read, whereupon Honorable Horace B. Packer, Member of Congress from the Sixteenth District of the State of Pennsylvania; Honorable Charles A. Williard, Chief Justice, and Honorable W. A. Kincaid, and his Honor, Judge Johnson, Judges of the United States Philippine Courts, addressed the House.

Mr. Beckley replied, thanking the gentlemen and wishing them "Aloha Nui."

On motion of Mr. Beckley, the House thereupon stood in recess, subject to the call of the Speaker.

The House reconvened at 10:58 o'clock.

REPORTS OF SELECT COMMITTEES.

The following report of Select Committee was presented: On H. B. No. 48, by Mr. Makekau, entitled “An Act providing for and creating certain counties in the Territory of Hawaii, and providing a form of government for such counties," from Mr. Mossman, a minority of Select Committee on County Government, recommending that the Bill do pass with certain amendments. Mr. Dickey moved that the Bill upon which the report was made be placed upon the calendar of the day for first reading. Seconded by Mr. Keliikoa.

Mr. Kumalae, Chairman of Special Committee appointed to investigate the charges of corruption against legislators which appeared in Ke Aloha Aina, asked for further time. Granted.
