I have the honor to transmit herewith House Bill No. 9, which passed the Senate this 3rd day of April, A. D. 1901.

The following Resolution was introduced:

H. R. No. 90, by Mr. Kumalae.

Whereas, the newspaper Ke Aloha Aina in its issue of March 23, 1901, made the charge that a certain sum of money had been deposited by some corporation as a bribe to influence certain legislators in their action on a certain matter; and,

Whereas, the honor of the members of this Legislature requires that said charge be investigated; therefore,

Be It Resolved, that a Special Committee consisting of seven members be appointed by the Speaker to inquire into the matter and report to this House.

Moved by Mr. Kumalae, seconded by Mr. Monsarrat, that same be adopted. Motion carried. The Speaker therefore ap pointed as such Committee the following gentlemen: Messrs. Kumalae, Makainai, Keliikoa, Ahulii, Mahoe, Beckley and

Puuki.

Mr. Prendergast, Chairman of the Committce on Enrollment, Revision and Printing, reported the following Bills printed and ready for distribution:

REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES.

Under a suspension of the Rules, Mr. Mossman presented a Minority Report of Special Committee on H. R. No. 79, by Mr. Monsarrat, relative to police call-box system for Honolulu, recommending that the consideration of the Resolution be indefinitely postponed. Mr. Mossman moved the adoption of the Minority Report.

Mr. Makekau moved to take up the consideration of the Majority Report and Resolution, which had been postponed until the Minority Report should be presented. Mr. Makekau's motion prevailed. H. R. No. 79, asking for appropriation of $15,000 for police call-box system for Honolulu, was then read, also the Majority Report, signed by all the members of the Committee but Mr. Mossman, recommending that Resolution do pass.

On motion of Mr. Kumalae, the House thereupon stood in recess until 2 o'clock p. m.

AFTERNOON SESSION.

The House reconvened at 2:01 o'clock p. m. Mr. Speaker in the Chair.

Consideration of H. R. No. 79, by Mr. Monsarrat, asking for an appropriation of $15,000 for a police call-box system, Hono

lulu, and the Majority and Minority Reports thereon, was resumed. Mr. Beckley moved the previous question, which was thereupon ordered. Mr. Mossman called for the ayes and noes on. the motion to adopt the Majority Report, which was thereupon ordered, with the following result:

Ayes---Messrs. Aylett, Dickey, Gilfillan, Hoogs, Keiki, Kekaula, Keliikoa, Kumalae, Makainai, Makekau, Monsarrat, Nailima, Robertson and Wilcox---14.

Noes---Messrs. Ahulii, Beckley, Emmeluth, Ewaliko, Haaheo, Kaauwai, Kauimakaole, Kaniho, Mahoe, Mossman, Paele, Prendergast and Puuki---13.
