Be It Resolved by the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii:

Section 1. The President be and he is hereby most cordially invited to extend his contemplated trip to the Pacific Coast to the Territory of Hawaii.

Section 2. That we most earnestly assure him that the people of these Islands, without distinction of party or race, will unite in extending a soulful "Aloha" to the Chief Magistrate of our Great Republic.

Section 3. That the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives immediately transmit these Resolutions to the President.

On motion of Mr. Beckley, the Resolution was adopted. On motion of Mr. Robertson, the House thereupon adjourned.

RESOLUTIONS.

The following Resolution was introduced:

J. S. R. No. 1, by Mr. C. Brown, of the Senate, relating to the expunging from the Journals of both Houses of all records of and reference to this Joint Convention or the Resolution under the provisions of which it is held.

The Concurrent Resolution by the provisions of which the two sessions of the Joint Session had been held was then read.

Mr. Kalauokalani, of the Senate, then moved that the Joint Session do now adjourn until the Fiftieth day of this session and that the vote upon the motion to adjourn be taken by ayes and noes. The motion was seconded, whereupon Mr. Prendergast, of the House, moved to amend the motion to read that the Joint Session do now adjourn until 11 o'clock a. m. of the Fiftieth day of this session. The amendment was accepted by Mr. Kalauokalani. Mr. C. Brown, of the Senate, moved to amend by striking out the definite time to which to adjourn and making the adjournment sine die, and called for the ayes and noes. The amendment was seconded, and the ayes and noes were called, with the following result:

Noes---Senators Brown, J., Kahilina, Kalauokalani, Kanuha, Kaohi, Nakapaahu, White and Mr. Vice President---8. Absent---Mr. President---1.

REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS FROM
HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS.

A communication was read from the Attorney General in relation to H. R. No. 70, by Mr. Monsarrat, concerning the re

moval of Judge Moanauli, stating that further correspondence would be submitted as soon as received from Hawaii. On motion of Mr. Dickey, the consideration of the communication was postponed, to be taken up when the balance of the correspondence should be received.

PETITIONS, MEMORIALS AND COMMUNI-
CATIONS.

The following Petitions were presented, and referred as noted:

Petition No. 47, by Mr. Nailima, from 132 residents of Olaa, Puna, Hawaii, relating to the institution of county government and other matters. Referred to Select Committee on County and Municipal Government.

Petition No. 48, by Mr. Nailima, from 100 purchasers of Government lots in the new Olaa tract, relating to appropriation. of $5,000 for extension of Peck Road. Referred to Committee on Public Lands and Internal Improvements.

Petition No. 49, by Mr. Beckley, asking for an appropriation of $6,000 for an armory and drill shed for Hilo. Referred to the Committee on Military.

Petition No. 50, by Mr. Beckley, asking for an appropriation for a Government physician for the Island of Molokai, outside the Leper Settlement. Referred to the Committee on Public Health and Education.

Petition No. 51, by Mr. Kaniho, relative to personal taxes, burial regulations of the Board of Health and other matters. Referred to the Committee on Public Health and Education.

Petition No. 52, by Mr. Paele, asking for an appropriation of $5,000 for road repairs at Koolaupoko, Oahu. Referred to the Committee on Public Lands and Internal Improvements.

Petition No. 53, by Mr. Puuki, asking for an appropriation of $16,000 for breakwaters for Waimea River, Kauai. Referred to the Committee on Public Lands and Internal Improvements.

Petition No. 54, by Mr. Puuki, asking for an appropriation of $8,000 for roads, Waimea, Kauai. Referred to the Committee on Public Lands and Internal Improvements.

Mr. Monsarrat presented certain letters, which he wished referred to the Committee on Public Lands and Internal Improvements for verification and report. On motion, the letters were so referred.

RESOLUTIONS.

The following Resolution was introduced, and, on motion, was adopted:

H. R. No. 88, by Mr. Makainai, relating to appointment of Special Committee to investigate certain statements in the Honolulu Republican under date of March 31st.

Messrs. Beckley, Dickey and Mahoe were appointed as such Committee.

BILLS ON SECOND READING.

Mr. Mahoe moved that H. B. No. 35, by Mr. Prendergast, entitled "An Act to authorize and provide for the construction, maintenance and operation of a street railway upon certain streets and roads in the District of Honolulu, and elsewhere on the Island of Oahu, Territory of Hawaii, by the Hawaiian Tramways Company, Limited," be taken from the table and referred to the Committee on Public Lands and Internal Improvements. Seconded by Mr. Mossman. Motion declared carried. Mr. Robertson questioned the vote and called for a division of the question. The first question being again put, the motion to take from the table was carried. Mr. Emmeluth moved, seconded by Mr. Kumalae, that consideration of the Bill be indefinitely postponed. Mr. Mahoe moved that the Bill be referred to the Committee on Public Lands and Internal Improvements. Mr. Kumalae moved the previous question, which was thereupon ordered. On motion of Mr. Makekau, the ayes and noes were ordered on the motion to indefinitely postpone, with the following result:
