We with them our voices raise,
Echoing Thine eternal praise.
Glory be to God on high!
Ever blessed Trinity.

12.

HONOUR, glory, might, dominion,
To the Father and the Son,

With the everlasting Spirit,

Ever Three and ever One.

13.

Amen.

Amen.

CHRIST, to Thee, the world's salvation,
Father, Spirit, unto Thee,
Low we bend in adoration,

Ever blessed One and Three. Amen.

The number of the suitable Doxology has been appended to all the hymns for which such a conclusion appears appropriate (when no doxology is printed with the hymn itself), to avoid the awkward effect of giving out in Church the number of the doxology: thus, "Hymn 160 with the doxology," instead of "with Doxology No. 2."

I TESU, Refuge of my soul!
Let me to Thy shelter fly,
While the gathering waters roll,
While the tempest still is high:
Hide me, O my Saviour! hide,
Till the storm of life be past;
Safe into the haven guide,
O receive my soul at last!

I

2 Other refuge have I none,

Hangs my helpless soul on Thee:
Leave, ah! leave me not alone,
Still support and comfort me!
All my trust on Thee is stay'd,
All my help from Thee I bring;
Cover my defenceless head

With the shadow of Thy wing.
3 Plenteous grace with Thee is found,
Grace to cleanse from every sin;
Let the healing streams abound,
Make and keep me pure within:
Thou of life the Fountain art,
Freely let me take of Thee;
Spring Thou up within my heart,
Rise to all eternity. Amen.

JES

ESU! the very thought of Thee, With sweetness fills my breast; But sweeter far Thy face to see,

And in Thy presence rest.

2 Nor voice can sing, nor heart can frame,
Nor can the memory find,

A sweeter sound than Thy blest Name,
O Saviour of mankind!

3 O Hope of every contrite heart,
O Joy of all the meek,

To those who fall, how kind Thou art!
How good to those who seek!

4 But what to those who find? Ah! this
Nor tongue nor pen can show:

C.M.

I

I

The love of Jesu, what it is,
None but His loved ones know.
Jesu! our only Joy be Thou,
As Thou our Prize wilt be;
Jesu! be Thou our Glory now,
And through eternity.

3.

JESU! Thou the Beauty art
Of angel worlds above:
Thy name is music to the heart,
Enchanting it with love.

2 Celestial sweetness unalloy'd!
Who eat Thee, hunger still,
Who drink of Thee still feel a void,
Which nought but Thou can fill.
3 O my sweet Jesu! hear the sighs
Which unto Thee I send;

To Thee mine inmost spirit cries,
My being's hope and end!

4 Stay with us, Lord, and with Thy light Illume the soul's abyss;

Scatter the darkness of our night
And fill the world with bliss.

SWE

WEET Jesus! why, why didst Thou love
Such worthless things as we?

Why is Thy heart still toward us,

Who seldom think on Thee?

2 Thy bounty gives us all we have; And we Thy gifts abuse:

Thy bounty gives us e'en Thyself,
And we Thyself refuse!

3 Alas! dear Lord, I cannot love,
Unless Thou draw my heart:
Thou who so kindly mak'st me know,
O make me do my part.

4 Still do Thou love me, O my Lord,
That I may still love Thee;

Still make me know Thee, O my God,
That Thou mayst still love me.

5 Thus may my God, and my poor soul, Still one another love,

I

Till I depart from this low world
T'enjoy my God above.

5.

MY God, I love Thee, not because

I hope for heaven thereby;

Nor because they who love Thee not Must burn eternally.

2 Thou, O my Jesus, Thou didst me
Upon the cross embrace;

For me didst bear the nails and spear,
And manifold disgrace:

3 And griefs and torments numberless, And sweat of agony;

E'en death itself

and all for one

Who was Thine enemy.

4 Then why, O blessed Jesu Christ, Should I not love Thee well;

ot for the sake of winning heaven, of escaping hell.

I

5 Not with the hope of gaining aught,
Not seeking a reward;
But as Thyself hast loved me,
O ever-loving Lord!

6 E'en so I love Thee, and will love,
And in Thy praise will sing;
Solely because Thou art my God,
And my eternal King. Amen.

6.

NEARER, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

E'en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be-

'Nearer, my God, to Thee,

Nearer to Thee.'

2 Though like a wanderer the sun goes down,
Darkness comes over me-my rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I'll be
Nearer, my God, to Thee,

Nearer to Thee.

3 Then let the way appear steps unto heaven, All that Thou sendest me in mercy given, Angels to beckon me

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

Nearer to Thee.

[praise,

4 Then with my waking thoughts bright with Thy Out of my stony griefs Bethels I'll raise; So by my woes to be

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

Nearer to Thee.

5 Or if on joyful wing cleaving the sky,

Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upwards I'll fly,
